Included is the study of the function of the organ systems that make up the human body. Special emphasis is given to the role of each system in maintaining homeostasis in the body. Student Learning Outcomes (as described in course outline) : 1) Define homeostasis and illustrate the importance of feedback loops in the function of organ systems using specific examples. 2) Explain the role different organs and organ systems play in maintaining bodily function and homeostasis. 3) Describe the physiological mechanisms that underlie organ and organ system function. 4) Analyze examples of disease processes and explain them in terms of aberrations of normal physiological function. 5) Perform routine assessments of organ system function on living subjects.
