7 Celebrate Friendship Caine Halter Family YMCA Preschool Camp 3- and 4-year-olds Preschool Camp is the perfect adventure for the first-time camper. Preschool campers will be introduced to a structured camp that will allow them to participate in hands-on learning experiences along with the traditional activities of camp. Dates: Member: $75 Non-member: $100 Girls Rock Camp Rising 1 st - Rising 6 th Grade Celebrate all things G-I-R-L with a jam-packed week of special activities designed to build confidence and self-esteem. Dates: 29-3 Science 101 Camp Every day focuses on a different science discipline including chemistry, physics and biology with hands-on experiments, projects, and games. 9 Leaders in Training Rising 7 th - Rising 8 th grade This challenging program reaps endless rewards through new friendships, an increased selfawareness and self-esteem and new interests. In addition to helping plan and participate in a variety of ageappropriate activities, L.I.T s also take part in activities focusing on effective leadership traits. Each day campers will have the opportunity for player development, team conditioning, and building confidence as an athlete. Campers will be split into groups according to age and ability. Second-4th graders will have a mix of sports camp and day camp activities. Fifth-9th graders will focus on sports for the full day. Both groups will have swimming once a week and will participate in a tournament at the end of the week. Theisen YMCA Explore ballet technique and creative movement as we dance through several fairy tales, including Peter Pan, Snow White, and Rapunzel. Games promote physical activity, teambuilding, sportsmanship, and fun! With swimming, sports, art, dance, target sports and fieldtrips, there is something for everyone. We also incorporate math, science, and reading in a fun way! 23 Archaeology Camp Rising 2 nd Rising 9 th grade Campers will receive an introduction to basic archaeology practices and guidelines, then spend time using a metal detector and implements to unearth artifacts of the historic sites on Oakland Plantation, which dates back to the 1830s. Groups are divided by age, creating a better experience for both young and older campers. Campers will also make bricks, hand dip candles, shoot archery, and take a field trip to Pelham Mill on Friday. Under Construction Camp Rising K5 Rising 9 th grade This camp is for budding builders, raring to develop basic carpentry and old time builder skills through a series of hands-on projects. Eight-14 year olds will construct a pioneer bench, build a birdhouse, craft a broom, make a rustic portrait, and more. 25 CIT Camp (Counselor-in-Training) Rising 9 th 12 th grade The CIT program is a 4-week program for teens who wish to choose the YMCA as a possible career. This program is a great way to gain valuable job experience and to learn essential leadership skills. Graduates will gain certification in the following: CPR, First Aid, AED, BBP, O2 and Aquatics Safety Assistant. *All interested teens must complete an interview with the Camp Director prior to registration. The Overmountain men (and women) were backcountry settlers who rose up against Loyalist troops at King s Mountain in We will learn some of the skills these pioneers possessed fire building, shelter construction, cooking, and tomahawk throwing---then embark on a two-day odyssey into the Blue Ridge Mountains, retracing the steps that the Overmountain Men took on their way to King s Mountain. There will be day hikes, overnight camping, and visits to historic sites. We will return to Hollingsworth on Friday afternoon, completing a unique camping adventure.
