7 Celebrate Friendship Caine Halter Family YMCA Preschool Camp 3- and 4-year-olds Preschool Camp is the perfect adventure for the first-time camper. Preschool campers will be introduced to a structured camp that will allow them to participate in hands-on learning experiences along with the traditional activities of camp. 9 Leaders in Training Rising 7 th - Rising 8 th grade This challenging program reaps endless rewards through new friendships, an increased selfawareness and self-esteem and new interests. In addition to helping plan and participate in a variety of ageappropriate activities, L.I.T s also take part in activities focusing on effective leadership traits. 23 Archaeology Camp Rising 2 nd Rising 9 th grade Campers will receive an introduction to basic archaeology practices and guidelines, then spend time using a metal detector and implements to unearth artifacts of the historic sites on Oakland Plantation, which dates back to the 1830s. Groups are divided by age, creating a better experience for both young and older campers. Campers will also make bricks, hand dip candles, shoot archery, and take a field trip to Pelham Mill on Friday. The Overmountain men (and women) were backcountry settlers who rose up against Loyalist troops at King s Mountain in We will learn some of the skills these pioneers possessed fire building, shelter construction, cooking, and tomahawk throwing---then embark on a two-day odyssey into the Blue Ridge Mountains, retracing the steps that the Overmountain Men took on their way to King s Mountain. There will be day hikes, overnight camping, and visits to historic sites. We will return to Hollingsworth on Friday afternoon, completing a unique camping adventure.
