5 4. LECTURERS Michael Köttner Michael Köttner is an Agricultural Biologist with more than 20 years of experience in the field of biogas. Since 1992 he has been working as course conductor and instructor in adult education programmes, as well as a consultant focusing on biogas and renewable energies. He is founder of the German Biogas Association and was leading Germany's first Biogas Information Office in the Hohenlohe Farming College. In 2001 Michael founded IBBK where he works as CEO and senior expert focusing on Biogas and Bioenergy Technology doing mainly consulting work and implementing one of Germany's first intensive training courses for biogas operators. Due to IBBK's worldwide network and Michael's international activities and experience in European Biogas networks he additionally possesses good knowledge about biogas related issues (e.g. digester technology, legislation) in different European countries. He is also President at German Society for Sustainable Biogas and Bioenergy Utilization. 5
6 Mr. Stephan Schulte is Sales Manager from BTA International GmbH. He made his degree in Environmental Technology at the Technical University of Berlin in 1996, being one of the main subjects Waste Treatment Technologies. Since 2001 he is involved in the project development of biogas plants, initially for the energetic valorization of agricultural residues and since 2007, year at which he joined BTA International, for the treatment of organic waste from municipal, industrial and commercial sources. As he grew up in Mexico City and therefore speaks Spanish as well as some Portuguese he is responsible within the company for the South European markets, having participated in various MBT and AD projects in Portugal or Spain. In this frame he was responsible for the tendering process, as well as for commercial and communication issues for the refurbishment project of the Methanization Line from Ecoparque Burgos, one of the key subjects of his presentation on the importance of an efficient removal of impurities from organic material prior its anaerobic digestion. Tiago Faria is Director in Efacec, since 2009, with the responsibility of the Waste Solid Division.
