2 WORK EXPERIENCE Department Chair Water and Environmental Engineering Department German Jordanian University Assistant Professor German Jordanian University, Amman Sept to date Sept to date - Working in different research projects in the field of solid waste management. - Teaching several Water and Environmental Engineering courses; such as: Water Quality Control (WEEM 551), Water and Wastewater Treatment (WEEM 351), Solid Waste Management (WEEM 521), Hazardous Solid Waste Management (WEEM 522), and Introduction to Environmental Engineering (WEEM 101). In addition to Project Management Courses I (ARCH 354) and II (ARCH 554). - Current Research Activities in : Currently involved in the following research areas: Anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction of Municipal Solid Waste, Solid Waste Management options in Jordan and its effect on the country s greenhouse gases budget, Animal manure and its relation to flies in the Jordan Valley Manure management to dealing with striker environment regulations. The ultimate aim of the research is to study the proper treatment option of Manure in the Jordan Valley; two options are proposed: anaerobic digestion, and composting. Methane oxidation in landfill cover soil in Russifa landfill and other sites in Jordan. - Research Interests: Research interest in the area of environmental engineering include, but are not limited to: Drought and desertification, Olives waste proper treatment and management, The impact of solid waste management options on climate change and human health, The mitigation of greenhouse gases in landfills bio-covers, Composting of bio-solids, Waste segregation strategies in the Middle East, The proper disposal and treatment of slaughterhouse waste, Jatropha biodiesel for sustainable renewable energy production, Waste treatment and disposal standards and frameworks in the Middle East. 2
3 Research and Teaching Assistant University of Ottawa, Ottawa - Canada The research conducted aimed at developing innovative design for the final landfill cover systems, and to carry out a comprehensive study on the biological oxidation of methane and non-methane organic compounds in landfill bio-covers, under diverse operating conditions. The results of this research and the practical experience obtained from the work in the laboratory as well as the landfill site of the industrial partners sustained the successful implementation of active bio-covers on site. Planning and Project Management Specialist Alashhab Engineering management Group, Amman- Jordan During the works in several projects, the activities performed were as follows: Evaluate and control the activities progress according to a set plan in order to achieve and maintain the job strategies. Develop innovative signals that lead to take early measures which guarantee a successful work plan; also helps facing challenges of unprecedented and unraveled obstacles. Assist in evaluating organizational policies and systems to reduce cost, improve services, and increase machinery utilization. Assess alternatives by reviewing procedures (method statement, resources) to optimize production and minimize cost. Develop and implement integrated work strategies to achieve and maintain the highest standard of performance and effectiveness in minimal time span. Identify an effective work strategy which enables the decision makers to reach their goals. Coordination with different governmental departments, municipalities, funding agents, financing bankers, consultants and contractors. Planning and Construction Management Specialist The Arab Contractors Company, Amman- Jordan Technical Support and Office Engineer The Consulting Engineering Center, Lesotho- South Africa Planning Office Engineer Yousef Abu Ayyash Contracting, Amman- Jordan LANGUAGES Fluent in English and Arabic, Beginner in French. 3
