2 STUDENT ACTIVITIES Animation Club Learn the art of stop-motion animation in this fun, interactive club. Explore multiple techniques for creating animation and creat one or more movies during the year. Meeting time: 1st Sememster Art Club Art Club Students who enjoy art have the opportunity to participate in special art activities after school. Due to the number of students who have expressed an interest in this club, a new group of students are selected to participate each semester. Boys' Basketball Basketball teaches students to work together, play hard, and respect the game. Expect fun, great competition, and new friends. The season runs from mid October to the end of December. Open to students in grades 7-8 Season: Winter Battle of the Books Do you like to read new and exciting books? Are you good at remembering facts? Are you a person who works well on a team? Battle of the Books may be for you. A Battle of the Books team a will be selected from each grade level to compete against students from other schools in our area. Open to students in grades 6, 7, and 8 Meeting time: To be announced Best Buddies Best Buddies is a time for students to socialize and play with special need peers. Together the students play various board games, card games, file folder games, and do large group games such as a floor puzzle or Uno Attack. Best Buddies must have passing grades to participate and those who come on a regular basis will be able to attend one special activity with the special need students. Special activities may include indoor swimming, going out to eat, bowling, or the end-of-the-year field trips. Cheer Members will lead spectators in cheering for our athletes during their home games. Open to students in grade 7-8 Season: Fall Girls' Basketball Chess Club Chess Club is open to all students at Tomah Middle School. Joining the Drama Club may be for you. Come and check it out. STUDENT ACTIVITIES FFA Football Golf Golf is a fall activity for both boys and girls. Practices start before school begins and run through mid-october. This is a good opportunity to learn a lifelong sport. Season: Fall Gymnastics Gymnastics is a team sport that focuses on individual strengths. It helps to develop confidence and agility. Come join the fun with this growing sport in the Tomah area. Practices start late November and run through late February. Open to students grades 6-8 Season: Winter

4 International Club STUDENT ACTIVITIES Newspaper The TMS International Club works to celebrate and to TMS Times is the middle school paper. Meeting time: all year See Mrs. Hewuse in the Counseling Office Musical/Play Quiz Team The middle school play is open to all middle school students. Auditions will be in early fall. Rehearsals are Seventh graders form teams of six to compete in Quiz Bowl 3:30-5:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and competitions against other area teams. 5 Show Choir - Soundsations Science Olympiad is a team of up to 15 students who explore the world of science by building, creating, researching, and learning more about a wide range of topics. Students choose their events, prepare for them at practices, and complete with their team at competitions much like an academic track meet. Past events have in- cluded topics such as Disease Detectives, Crime Busters, Mouse Trap Vehicles, Rotor Egg Drop, and more. Interested students must sign up for the elimination round held in late November. Open to students in grades 7-8 Season: Winter If you love to dance, sing and work hard, then Show Choir may be for you. Being involved in Show Choir allows you to perform in a variety of ways. Show Choir is a lot of fun for its members, but it is a lot of hard work too. You must be in choir to tryout for Show Choir. Tryouts are in the spring for the following year. Science Olympiad Crescendo Girls' softball is a Spring sport that runs from the end of March through May. If you don't make the Soundsations Show Choir, this Open to students in grades 7-8 group will prepare you for trying out for Show Choir next Season: Spring year - so keep on dancing, singing and working hard. Science Club Students in Science Club are involved in a variety of activities to promote environmental awareness and to learn more about how science concepts and principles impact everyday life. Open to students in grades 7-8 Student Council is designed for all students at any grade level to get involved! In this organization students are allowed and encouraged to voice opinions and concurs on school happenings. Students Council plans school wide events and is involved in community service projects. Student Guides are hand selected/nominated students. The goal of this program is to reach out in kindness - to show students they are not alone, they matter, to help them feel safe and comfortable at Tomah Middle School. We are looking for responsible students who will photograph school activities, design pages, choose the cover and layout for the yearbook, and help edit the final product.
