1 First Aid Training with City College Plymouth By selecting City College Plymouth as your first aid training provider, you will ensure that your first aiders are well trained and competent. City College Plymouth is able to demonstrate its competence to deliver first aid training and that it has the necessary quality assurance systems in place. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has provided Guidance to help employers select an appropriate training organisation / route. The Guidance is available at It does not promote, recommend or support any particular route to delivery. First aid training providers can offer:- regulated qualifications; or operate under voluntary accreditation schemes (including trade / industry bodies); or operate independently of any such accreditation scheme City College Plymouth offers a regulated qualification via the awarding organisation The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), and an independent City College Plymouth certificated course. First aid regulation changes On 1 October 2013 the Health & Safety (First Aid Regulations) 1981 were amended removing the requirement for HSE to approve first aid training and regulations. Employers now have the flexibility to manage their first aid at work provision. Due diligence: The importance of choosing the right first aid training provider Employers must be satisfied that their training provider is competent in first aid delivery and assessment and has the necessary quality assurance processes in place. What should due diligence of a training provider include? When undertaking due diligence of a training provider, there are several things to consider.
