3 Health & Safety Course Guide A warm welcome to the Health and Safety Training Guide. The programme is continually being updated so please check the my.hr training resource for up to date information on courses and events being offered. The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 requires employers to provide whatever information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of their employees. This is also explicit in the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, which identify situations where health and safety training is particularly important, e.g. when people start work, on exposure to new or increased risks and where existing skills may have become rusty or need updating. We advise that you and your managers use your annual Performance and Development Review (PDR) to identify your specific health and safety training needs, but if you need additional guidance please do not hesitate to contact the University Health and Safety Service who will be able to assist or guide you in the appropriate direction. Bespoke Training We offer Schools, Departments and Professional Services a range of tailored training and workshops on request. Some examples of bespoke training we have carried out include: Task specific Manual Handling Operations Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Hydrogen Safety Personal Safety Woodworking Machinery If we are unable to provide the health and safety training you require we are often able to refer you to an appropriate source of help.
