1 NG-PON2 NEXT GENERATION PON SINGLE TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM FOR ALL SERVICES
2 WHAT IS NG-PON2? NG-PON2 selected TWDM-PON as the primary technology solution with point-to-point WDM overlay channels and with full coexistence with legacy ITU-T PONs (G-PON, XG-PON) and RF video. 4 or 8 wavelengths can be used to provide 40G or 80G downstream and 10G, 40G or 80G upstream. It is also possible to use up to 8 channels on a point-to-point WDM configuration. SCALABLE AND FLEXIBLE NG-PON2 SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR BUSINESS Driven by the proliferation of heterogeneous bandwidth-consuming services, passive optical network (PON) architectures have been evolving in the last decade, providing enhanced availability, data rates and services. An evidence of this fast evolution is that both IEEE and ITU-T together with the Full Services Access Network (FSAN) group had working towards the standardization of next-generation PON2 (NG-PON2) and XGS-PON. Several access technologies are currently deployed in the field, namely, EPON, 10GEPON, BPON, GPON, XG-PON and the choices have been to evolve from the legacy systems without discontinuity of the previous technology, in other words maintaining coexistence over the same fiber span to further exploit the investment. WHO BENEFITS FROM IT? Low user density rural sets Condominium Industrial park networks High density urban networks
3 THE CHALLENGE Ever increasing worldwide broadband demand (mainly Video Streaming and cloud services); Market need for optical access fibre technologies; Innovative PON solutions ready for future network evolution. BUSINESS BENEFITS End-to-End FTTx active equipment differentiated portfolio, and value added professional services; Fast Time-to-Market Deployments; Multi-services supported on a single technology. OUR SOLUTION Highest Density OLT in the industry Scalable OLT chassis portfolio; PON and Point to Point Ethernet technologies from a single chassis; Ready to support Next Generation PON technologies (NG-PON2); Flexible Sync mechanisms such as SYNC-E PTP/IEEE 1588v2. ONT/ONU suitable portfolio Interoperable models for Residential, Business and Mobile Backhaul applications. Indoor and Outdoor options; Various available Interfaces: GE, POTS (VoIP), VDSL2, T1/E1, Wi-Fi, G.FAST, MOCA 2.0, RF TV, SAT (DTH); Certified Equipment (BBF.247 / BBF.069).
4 NG-PON2 DEPLOYMENT THE ARCHITECTURE Altice Labs Next Generation PON solutions includes a comprehensive portfolio of OLT and ONT products fully integrated with the AGORA EMS platform. NG-PON2 constitutes a convergent solution offering support for multiple applications, covering the residential, business and enterprise segments, by using multiple 10 Gb/s overlay channels, over each fiber strand while coexisting with other PON flavors. This new breath of life that NG-PON2 injects into existing Optical Distribution Networks enables operators to preserve investment and leverage their already deployed networks as well as allow a pay as you grow approach for the network. Some of the benefits of leveraging the embedded AGORA EMS include: scalabitity; adaptability; and centrality. The Altice Labs NG-PON2 solution roadmap includes Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) features to establish a services independent access network, enabling costumers to develop and roll out innovative services with a faster time to market and a reduced operational burden.
