2 Introduction The Nordics Open for Senior Ladies and Men is a part of The Nordics which includes Advanced Novice and Juniors. General Regulations The Nordics Open will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations 2014, the ISU Special Regulations and Technical Rules for Figure Skating and Ice Dance, as well as all updated ISU Communications. Participation in The Nordics Open is open to competitors as follows: Senior Men and Ladies Open to all members of ISU and who qualify with regard to eligibility according to ISU Rule 102, provided their ages fall within the limits specified in Rule 108 and they meet the participation, citizenship and residency requirements in ISU Rule 109, and ISU Communication No or any update of the Communication. Passports/EU ID cards of all skaters, as well as the ISU Clearance Certificate, if applicable, must be presented at the accreditation of the event for verification. Please note that The Nordics for Junior and Novice, open only to the Nordic members, will take place at the same time. Details are stated in a separate announcement. Technical Data Place: Aalborg Gigantium, Willy Brandts Vej 31, 9220 Aalborg, Denmark The venue is located 6 km from the City Center of Aalborg, and 14 km from Aalborg Airport. All competition events and practices will take place in Aalborg Gigantium, which has two indoor and heated ice rinks, size 30x60 m. The Competition Arena holds up to 5000 spectators. Senior Men Short Program: Duration max 2 min 50 sec, but may be less. Requirements according to the ISU Technical Rules Single and Pair Skating 2014, Rule, 611, paragraphs 1 and 2, and all pertinent ISU Communications. Free Skating: Duration 4 min 30 sec ± 10 sec Requirements according to the ISU Technical Rules Single and Pair Skating 2014, Rule 612, and all pertinent ISU Communications. 2

3 Senior Ladies Short Program: Duration max 2 min 50 sec, but may be less. Requirements according to the ISU Technical Rules Single and Pair Skating 2014, Rule, 611, paragraphs 1 and 2, and all pertinent ISU Communications. Free Skating: Duration 4 min ± 10 sec Requirements according to the ISU Technical Rules Single and Pair Skating 2014, Rule 612, and all pertinent ISU Communications. Entries Citizen / Residence requirements and Clearance Procedure: In accordance with Rule 109 of ISU Regulations and ISU Communication 1420 or any update of it, all skaters who do not have the Nationality of the Member, which they have been entered or who although having such nationality, have in the past representing another Member, must produce an ISU Clearance Certificate. Each invited Member has the right to enter competitors as follows: All ISU Members: The Nordic Countries: 1 Senior Man 1 Senior Lady 3 Senior Men 3 Senior Ladies All competitors must be entered and all judges nominated only through their respective Member Association/Federation. Online Registration Complete final entries must be made online at at January 28th 2016 the latest. Please find information on the online registration in Appendix B. Entry Fee Entry fee is EUR 75 per skater. Amount due for payment by January 28 th 2016 by Bank Transfer immediately after completing the online registration. Officials Information The host Nordic country member is responsible for appointing Referees and Technical panels for all categories, following initial suggestions from the Nordic country members as well as for the appointment of the Judges panels, which should include two (2) invited neutral judges from a country outside the Nordic countries. Each Nordic country member is responsible for providing at least one (1) international or ISU level judge, and at least one (1) technical panel member. The 3

4 Host country completes the panels of Officials according to the ISU Rules and relevant Communications regarding world standing points and officials activity. Expenses Each participating Member must bear all expenses for their Competitors, Judges, Technicals (TC/TS/DO/VR), Team Leaders and Coaches. The meals (lunch and dinner) and pocket money for the Technical Panel members are borne by the Organizer. If a Nordic country does not provide a judge and a technical panel person from their own country, the Country must cover the costs of one judge/technical panel person invited by the organizer. Travel and accommodation expenses will be paid only for the invited Referees, invited Technical Panel Members and invited Judges from outside Nordic countries. Hotel rooms must be booked through the Organizer only. Music and Planned Program Content The Organizer would prefer to receive all competition music via upload to a shared folder on the Internet. Please see Appendix A for details. Note that all music should be uploaded no later than February 10 th All competitors shall furnish extra competition music of excellent quality on either CD or any other electronic means, in accordance with ISU Rule 343, paragraph 1. Each program (short/free) must be recorded on one track respectively on a separate disc. Discs must show the competition event, competitors name, nation and the exact running time of the music (not skating time) including any starting signal. The Program Content Sheet must be returned with the entry forms to the Organizing Committee in time. It is mandatory that the Program Content Sheet must be filled in precisely by each skater in English using the terminology for the elements listed in the respective ISU Communication. It is not permitted to hand over the Program Content Sheets directly to the acting Officials. Registration Accreditation will be given to all Referees, Judges, Technical Panels, Competitors, Team Leaders, Coaches and Representatives from each Member Federation. Accreditation will be given at the Rink upon arrival. Results and World Standings Judging and calculations will be done according to ISU Special Regulations Single & Pair Skating and Ice Dance 2014, Rules 352 and 353. ISU World Standing points will also be awarded in the Senior Men s and Ladies category according to the World Standings Procedure, that can be found on the ISU website ( under Single & Pairs/Ice Dance World Standings. 4

5 Awards The three best-placed Competitors in each event will be announced and honored at the official Victory Ceremony. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be presented to the medalists. The national anthem of the winner will be played and the flag of the medal winners hoisted. Liability In accordance with ISU Rule 119, it is the sole obligation of each member participation in The Nordics 2016, to provide medical and accident insurance for their athletes, officials and all other members of the Member s team. Such insurance must assure full medical attendance and also the return of the ill or injured person to the home country by air transport or by other expeditious means. The Organizer assumes no responsibility for or liability with respect to bodily or personal injury or property damage incurred by competitors and officials. Anti-Doping Anti-Doping tests may be carried out in accordance with the current ISU Anti-Doping Rules and Procedures (ISU Communication No 1800 or any further update of this Communication). Hereafter please contact the office at office@danskate.dk Prices Single room: 695 DKK/night/room Double room: 815 DKK/night/room Triple room DKK/night/room (only a limited number of rooms available): 1015 DKK/night/room Room rates include breakfast and VAT. The rooms will be charged at the Online Registration. Teams can order lunch on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and dinner on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The price for lunch is 150 DKK and for dinner 225 DKK. Meal tickets will be distributed to the Team Leaders at the time of registration according to bookings. Lunch will be served at Gigantium (Icerink), dinner at the official hotel. 5

6 Wednesday Feb 24th at 7:00 pm the Official opening and draw will take place in the Event Room at the Gigantium Rink. The municipality of Aalborg will be hosting snacks and drinks. Skaters Party A Skaters Party with Dinner will take place on Saturday Feb 27, 7:00 pm at a Restaurant in downtown Aalborg. Price: DKK 190 excluding drinks. More information will follow. Technical Panel and Judges Dinner A dinner for TC, TS, DRO, Referees and Judges will take place Saturday Feb 27, 7:00 pm at a Restaurant downtown Aalborg. Price: DKK 330 excluding drinks. More information will follow. All meals must be booked and paid at the online registration. Transportation The official hotel Scandic Hotel Aalborg is located 15 minutes drive from Aalborg Lufthavn/Airport (13 km) and 4 km from the center of Aalborg. The airport bus stops just outside the hotel. The hotel is located 5 minutes walk (850m) from the ice rinks and 2 minutes (1km) by car. A Cab fare is approx. DKK 270 for 4 persons and DKK 360 for 6 persons. Official transportation will be offered between the Airport and the Hotel for DKK 100/per person inclusive the return to the Airport. 8 Appendix A Upload of Music

9 Music Upload for Nordics Music must be uploaded for Nordics prior to the competition, for the music to be available on the day of the competition. This manual describes how the music is to be uploaded as well as the requirements for the music files. Questions can be mailed to and we will try to answer the questions as fast as possible. Music Requirements There are some few requirements to the music files being uploaded. The requirements are: Music files have to be in mp3 format. o The format can be seen by the file extension (xxx.mp3) o If the music is ripped or similar from another source, please choose the format mp3 for the rip. The file name has to follow the given standard. o File name must be constructed based on this template : Name - Group - Country.mp3 Example: Hans Hansen Advanced Novice Boys - SWE.mp3 Example: Julie Jensen Senior Ladies - FIN.mp3 Example: Emma Nielsen Junior Ladies - NOR.mp3 Please note: The higher bit rate chosen, when ripping the music, the better the end result will sound. When the music files have been uploaded, the music responsible will ensure - before each competition - to copy the music to a disc (network or USB) - for the music to be available on competition day. 1

10 Upload Step 1: Click on the links provided below to start music upload. Note: Everyone having the links can change, add or delete files. Step 2: The links grant access to folders on the Internet, on Google Drive. Step 3: In each folder there are additional folders, one for each participating country, below that one for each competition. 2

11 Step 4: Click on the competition, to which music shall be uploaded. The folder opens and it is now possible to drag & drop files to the folder; alternatively the New button can be used. Step 5 (choice): If the music changes for one or more participants before the competition, the relevant file for the participant is deleted by the country responsible and a new music file is uploaded. Please notify musik.danskate@gmail.com per mail, if an emergency change occurs. 3

12 F.A.Q. 1. You have received a shared link for folder access. 2. When clicking the link, the folder opens, but upload is not possible. 3. There can be two reasons for this behavior. a. You have a Google account and are not logged on to the Google account b. 14 Online Entries Each ISU Member Federation must place all entries online at: Here it is possible to fill in all entries simultaneously and it is possible as well to start the entries and reenter the site with the last information later. If you later need to enter more participants, please reenter the online registration once again. Each time you complete an entry (one or more people) you will receive a confirmation stating the amount due to be paid.
