2 ABOUT LINDEN NEW ART Linden New Art aims to be a centre of creative excellence. As a home for new art we are open to bold ideas, to different ways of experiencing and seeing the world and oneself. WE have established a strong reputation as a leading public gallery that focuses on presenting new contemporary art. Linden encourages looking at new art, experiencing new ideas and promotes new ways of thinking by providing starting points for conversations about the world we inhabit. We believe this role is an important part of contemporary art and we aim to foster a curious audience that is open to engaging with new thinking and sometimes challenging viewpoints. The diverse exhibition program encourages audiences to engage with Australia s visual culture in a welcoming gallery space. We have the ability to transform the venue with a wide range of furniture and decorative pieces for hire. We can also provide cocktails, entertainment and flowers.

4 THE GALLERY SPACES Linden is a public art gallery with a vibrant exhibition program of contemporary art that changes every eight to ten weeks. Each exhibition looks entirely different and can change the space. Linden is a particularly suitable venue for: intimate dinners for up to 30 guests (in Gallery 1 only) cocktail style parties for up to 200 guests where guests can explore the entire gallery. The gallery spaces at Linden often make it difficult to hold sit down wedding receptions or ceremonies, please contact Bay Leaf Catering to discuss the suitability of the space for your event. Linden s website lists the current exhibition program and will provide you with examples of work that are likely to be on display. The images below give an idea of how the space can change throughout the annual program.

5 VENUE AVAILABILITY We are only able to take bookings for events when the gallery is not open to the general public. Venue availability is Monday Tuesday - Sunday All day - midnight 6pm - midnight (except Wednesday as gallery is open until 8pm) VENUE HIRE Venue hire fees include all five ground floor gallery rooms, the reception area and the garden. 3 hour Event 6pm-9pm $700 plus GST Includes 1 hour set up and bump out for the caterer and furniture or styling. Additional set up or bump out time is charged at $100 per hour plus GST. Extended Event 6.00pm-12am $1,500 plus GST Includes 1.5 hour set up and bump out for the caterer and furniture or styling. Additional set up or bump out time is charged at $100 per hour plus GST. Furniture Any furniture required will need to be hired by Bay Leaf Catering. Booking an event Please contact Bay Leaf Catering for a booking form. A deposit of $2,000 is required to secure the venue and catering. An invoice will be issued from Bay Leaf Catering. Full payment is required a minimum of 10 days prior to event date Payment can be made by cheque, EFT or credit card. Bay Leaf Catering accepts Visa and MasterCard (1% surcharge) and AMEX (2.5% surcharge) Bond A refundable $500 bond fee applies to each event. This bond is to ensure the space is left in a satisfactory condition after your function. If any of the conditions of hire are breached then Linden will receive the bond. Cancellation policy Cancellation or changes to bookings must be must be made in writing to Bay Leaf Catering. Cancellation within 7 days of event will incur a 100% charge of total costs Cancellation with 1 month of event will incur a 50% charge of total costs For any other cancellations, Bay Leaf Catering & Linden will retain the initial event deposit

6 OTHER CONDITIONS OF HIRE Bay Leaf Catering and Linden reserve the right to refuse any booking applications. The hire period provides for one hour of set up and bump out time additional time is charged at $100 per hour. Placement of any furniture must be discussed prior to the event to ensure the safety of the artworks on display. Music must be turned off at midnight and is not permitted in the garden at any time. Linden is a smoke free environment, smoking is not permitted in the building or grounds As Linden is a gallery and heritage building, for the safety of the building, artworks and patrons, no flames such as candles, oil burners or incense are permitted. LED tea lights or candles are a suitable replacement. After an event the galleries and grounds must be left in a sound and tidy condition. Any loss or damage to Linden property or artwork in Linden s care at the time of hire will be charged to the hirer.

7 OTHER INFORMATION Staff A Linden staff member as well as Bay Leaf Catering staff is required to manage and service each event. Security At any event over three hours, a security guard is required to attend to ensure the function runs smoothly. Bay Leaf Catering will arrange appropriate security for your event. Music As Linden is situated in a residential street in the heart of St Kilda, the relationship with our neighbours is important to us, we therefore do not allow any amplified music in the garden and request that guests leave quietly at the end of the function. Music can be played but must be contained within the building and must cease at midnight Getting here As car parking is at a premium in St Kilda we suggest leaving plenty of time for parking prior to your event. There is free all day parking on the Linden side of Acland Street, alternatively there are paid car parks at the Palais Theatre and the Prince of Wales Hotel. Linden is easy to reach by public transport. Trams 16, 79, 112 and light rail 96 all have stops a short walk from the gallery. As do buses 600, 606, 623 and 246. There are taxi ranks on Acland Street by the Vineyard bar and on Fitzroy Street by the Prince of Wales Hotel. Disabled access We have disabled access to the gallery (please note there is a gravel pathway). Disabled toilet facilities are also provided. Rubbish collection Linden has a number of recycling and rubbish bins on site. As the size of each function varies, it may be necessary to charge at cost for rubbish or recycling collection. Bay Leaf Catering will discuss this with the hirer prior to the function. Power supply Linden has electrical power sockets in each room of the gallery. If you are planning to use the power supply you will need to discuss your requirements prior to the function and an electrical assessment may need to be undertaken to ensure the load can be met. If an assessment is required, the fees will be charged to the hirer at cost. Catering Bay Leaf Catering is Linden s exclusive caterer and manages all function enquiries. They provide delicious food, innovative event management and superior service to ensure a spectacular event. No outside catering or self-catering is allowed at Linden New Art. Beverages Bay Leaf Catering has a liquor licence to be utilised at Linden. Bay Leaf Catering have a wide range of beverage packages or can offer beverages on consumption.
