2 Introduction Students take part in a series of lessons that help them build on their skills learnt at primary school. They take part in lessons based on number, geometry and statistics. At the end of the 3-4 weeks they sit a test that will help us put them into ability sets.

3 Algebra 1 Foundation Recognise & extend number sequences. Know the square numbers to at least 10x10. Core Generate & describe simple integer sequences. Find a term in a sequence when given a rule. Generate sequences from practical contexts. Use letters or symbols to represent unknown numbers or variables. Suggest extensions to problems by asking What if...? Begin to use the nth term of a linear sequence

4 Algebra 2 Foundation Understand and use the relationships between the four operations. Use Brackets in questions Core Know the meanings of term, expression and equation. Know algebraic operations follow the same rules as arithmetic operations. Simplify linear expressions by collecting like terms. Multiply a single term over a bracket. Use simple formulae. Substitute positive integers into simple linear expressions and formulae. Derive simple formula. Problem solving skills with algebra & diagrams.
