11 The mapping suggests a fragile environment The research networks behind the Norwegian R&I publications are distributed over a large number of institutions with few key players International partners plays a minor role in the Norwegian network. The R&I research field in Norway is largely characterized by a high number of researchers having shared appointments. The individual institution's seems vulnerable to the loss of key researchers. This is especially true for institutions that has a large share of international researchers with shared appointments. Slide 11
