Here you will find all of the information you need to assist you with Calrossy Primary Sport. There will often be notifications for you eg Information is now available under the Basketball icon for the 2014 season On this page there are currently 14 sporting icons Basketball, Oztag, Cricket, Hockey, HRIS, Touch Football, Waterpolo, Netball, Athletics, Horse Sports, Rugby, Swimming, Cross Country & CIS

3 The information included under these icons vary. For School Carnival icons such as Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics, usually there will be any notes that were handed out at school and any further information parents need that may be of help eg list of events, map of field events Under week day or weekend sport icons such as basketball, cricket or oztag, again there will be any notes that have been handed out, there will be a link to the association website if they have one, a link to draws etc and will include any information that an association sends to me. HRIS and CIS icons will include important dates for carnivals, trials and nomination closing dates etc.

6 Other Sports on offer Sports like Rugby League and Soccer are available in Tamworth. We do not participate in these sports as a school but there are a number of clubs that send us information about registration days for their clubs. This information is then put in our weekly Primary newsletter.

7 How to Register & Pay Registration and payment vary from sport to sport. Many organisations are now making registrations for their competitions online. Oztag and Hockey are asking parents to register and pay fees for their children online. However, there are still opportunities for parents to pay with cash, cheque etc. As a school, we will then receive notification of who has paid and we can put students into teams. This will alleviate association problems such as people not paying fees. For each available sport, I will send home notes to students who are interested in a particular sport and it will have information about how to register, costs and equipment needed. These notes will also be available on our website.

8 Representative Sports - HRIS Calrossy Primary School is part of the Hunter Region Independent Schools (HRIS). This Region includes schools at Port Macquarie, Taree, Scone, Maitland, Cessnock, Port Stephens, Newcastle and the Central Coast. There are 16 Primary schools involved in HRIS. There are Representative pathways available in most school sports via HRIS including: Athletics, Basketball, Chess, Cross Country, Soccer, Netball, Swimming and Tennis. There is a new HRIS website (still under construction) that is available for all parents. This can be located on our Primary Sports page under the HRIS icon. This includes all HRIS Sports and a 2014 calendar of events. As this site is still under construction, it is best to contact me at school to verify that the information is correct. 9 Representative Sports CIS After HRIS, the next representative pathway is through Combined independent Schools (CIS). If HRIS do not offer a pathway eg Rugby & Netball, students can go straight to CIS trials providing they have a representative history in the particular sport and they are old enough. Individual nominations are usually only for Yr 5 & 6 students. There is a cost of $19.80 for each CIS nomination. Calrossy pays this nomination fee. After a nomination has been submitted however If your child does not then trial for the sport, parents will need to pay this fee. ALL NOMINATIONS FOR HRIS & CIS HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE SCHOOL. PARENTS CANNOT NOMINATE THEIR CHILD WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF THE SCHOOL.

10 Representative Sport PSSA NSW PSSA The Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) is the last pathway in Primary School Sport before they represent NSW. If selected in NSW teams, students can play in carnivals where all states compete.
