To download an application form, go to LANSW website. Applications close 31 December Pinkletics Pinkletics 2013 is an initiative of the McGrath Foundation and Little Athletics Australia encouraging Little Athletics centres nationally to turn pink in support of the McGrath Foundation. All proceeds on the day will be donated to the McGrath Foundation to raise money to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia, as well as to increase breast awareness in young Australian women. Being a charity, The McGrath Foundation need to be able to ensure that they are able to cover the costs of the Pinkletics 2013 Team Kit, so if you don t raise $500, to fulfil their charitable licensing agreement they will invoice you the remaining amount. Don t worry though, there are so many easy ways to fundraise and they will give you support around this to help you reach your target! To register for Pinkletics 2013 please visit New Centres We are excited to announce we have ten centres joining us for the 2013/2014 season. We have welcomed the following centres to our LANSW family; Blayney, Bourke, Brewarrina, Condobolin, Coonabarabran, Dungog & District, Kendall, Kotara South, Rutherford and Tumbarumba & District. We wish them the best of luck in their first season back.

2 State Multi-Event Championships The State Multi-Event will be held at Myimbarr Community Park, Flinders (Shellharbour), hosted by Lake Illawarra Little Athletics on Saturday & Sunday, 1 & 2 March This event is for any registered athlete in the U7 to U17 age group. Entry is online only with entries closing on Wednesday, 12 February Online entries will be available shortly on the website. It is advisable to enter early and also to book your accommodation. More information can be found on the website Online Officials Accreditation The LANSW online officials assessment system has been very successful since its introduction at the beginning of last season. To date there are 641 registered users, who have attempted a total of 1844 exams. If you do D Grade, you receive your accreditation via immediately. If you do your C Grade you must complete 2 days of practicals before you receive your accreditation, which is sent from the LANSW office. Please make sure you let your members know that they can do their D & C Grade theory exams online and that the exams are multiple choice. Please go directly to the Officials Assessment. Qualification to Zone, Region & State A maximum of four competitors from each centre in age groups up to U12 are allowed in each event. No competitor will compete in more than four events (excluding relays). Centres may enter as many U13, U14, U15 and U17 as they wish. No competitor will compete in more than six events (excluding relays). The age composition of a centre relay team competing at Zone, Region and State MUST be the same. Zones to regions automatic qualifiers vary and are based on the number of zones in the region. Region to State two automatic qualifiers per region = 16, then LANSW selects the next best eight clear final performances from all regions, to a maximum of 24. One Relay team per region. ATFCA / LANSW Coaching Workshops Little Athletics NSW and the Australian Track & Field Coaches Association NSW Branch are working together to introduce a series of Athletics Coaching Education Workshops. Athletics Coaching Education workshops are designed to enhance an individual s knowledge and understanding of various aspects of athletics coaching. Each workshop focuses on a specific topic such as event technique and drills, physical development, preparation for performance, etc, and presents it in bite-sized chunks to the participants. The topics range from coaching the basics to advanced performances. The workshops are designed for coaches, parents, teachers and athletes (15 yrs+) and any other interested person. The workshops provide ideal professional development opportunities for coaches, potential coaches and teachers. The length of a workshop varies and is advertised for each individual workshop. The minimum length of a workshop is usually two hours. The workshops aim to provide accessible, flexible coaching education from a time and financial commitment standpoint. They also aim to fill some gaps currently existing in coach education. Workshops have already been conducted by Darren Wensor in two locations: The first workshop was held in Coffs Harbour on Saturday, 10 August 10am - 12pm, the topic being Start, Acceleration & Speed for Young Athletes. Eight participants attended.

3 Two workshops were held in Ballina on Sunday, 11 August 10am 12pm and 12.30pm 2.30pm. The first was entitled Sprints, Starts and Hurdles for Young Athletes and the second was High Jump for Young Athletes: Scissors to Flop. Eighteen people attended the workshops. More workshops will be organised throughout the season. Contact the Little Athletics NSW office if your centre would like to enquire about hosting a workshop. Website Coach Education The Coach Education Courses section of the Little Athletics NSW website has been substantially updated. It includes information about ITC courses, the coach education framework, coach accreditation courses and coaching education workshops. Mentoring Opportunities for Coaches A number of coaches have recently taken the opportunity to undergo observations/mentoring at Little Athletics NSW coaching clinics. The JETS coaching clinics in particular are proving very popular for this as the observing/mentee coaches are provided the opportunity to view some of NSW s best and most experienced athletics coaches in action. For more information, contact the Little Athletics NSW Coaching & Development Officers. Such mentoring must be formally arranged in advance of the clinic. Christmas Camp This year s camp will be held from the December 2013 at Blue Gum Lodge, Springwood. Camp features include: U9-U15 age groups only 4 specialised athletic coaching sessions, of your choice, with nationally accredited coaches 2 conditioning sessions Saturday Night Team Tabloid Party. Theme LOUD shirt Sunday Be Your Best Team Challenge Kris Kringle present sharing All meals and accommodation and activities a great opportunity to meet lots of friends (or catch up with old ones) and have a fun weekend, in a safe and exciting environment, being active and giving it a go There is a $170 Early Bird special price if application/online registration and full payment is received by 4 November $190 payable after this date. 4 Treasurers report moved by Grahame and 2 nd by Lee-Anne O Sullivan General Business: ANL additional relay teams at Zone ANL is likely to have over 350 registered athletes again this year and they would like consideration be given to them entering more than one relay team in some age groups. Grahame advised that to enter more than one team in the relays we would have to get permission from LANSW. He advised that it was possible to run unofficial teams (invitational teams) who would not be eligible to advance to Region. After some discussion Grahame moved the following motion Unofficial (invitation teams) may run in the 2014 Zone carnival but they must be made up of the correct age groups eg. Junior relay U9, U10, U11 & U12 one from each age group & Senior Relay U13, U14, U15 & U17 one from each age group. The unofficial team must be identified to the Computer room before the beginning of the race and they must be informed that they cannot under any circumstance advance to Region. A vote was take with 7 for the motion and 4 against the motion and 3 abstainers. The motion was passed. Graeme Hopkins advised that ANL has changed their name to Adamstown New Lambton Athletics Club and are now able to take dual registrations. Zone Multi Duties Clubs were asked if they were able to supply the helpers that are required for this Sunday s Multi. First call will be 9.15 am with first event to begin at 9.30 am. Certificates for each athlete competing in the Zone Multi will be handed out at the next meeting 28 th November Zone entries The final date for Zone entries will be 28 th November. If you need to use the excel entry form for you entries there is one on the Mid South Coast Zone website under software Meet Manager Zone software. If you have trouble with the excel file you need to download the Service pack to fix. If in doubt Grahame. Zone officials Discussion on availability of officials. Please see amended list attached. If you have an official whose name is highlighted please check with them for their availability. All centres are to bring their McDonald s shelters and drink bottles to Zone and to send someone to help set up the field on Friday afternoon. Track duties will be from finish Field duties will be for 2.00 hours but helpers must stay for the duration of the event if it has already started no changes in the middle of a field event.
