1 1/6 INTRODUCTION: Discover the highest crater lake in the world and be a privileged witness of the greatness of the Inca- and the Atacamaño culture. Licancabur Volcano (5916m) hides on its summit numerous treasures: An Inca Sanctuary, a sacred funerary site with a hundred years old wood, a crater lake, etc... During the acclimatization period of this tour, we will also visit the most interesting sites around San Pedro de Atacama. 2 2/6 DESCRIPTION OF THE TOUR: DAY 1: CALAMA (IN) - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA Reception in Calama airport and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama, archaeological capital of Chile. We visit the moon valley at sunset. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation: Hotel Meals: - DAY 2: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA SAN BARTOLO In the morning visit of the museum and the Quitor Fortress. Here we start our hike to San Bartolo (5-6h) an antique copper-mine where we set our camp and stay for the night. Accommodation: Camp DAY 3: SAN BARTOLO - PURITAMA BATHS - TATIO GEYSERS Transfer to Purifica, starting point of our wonderful hike along a canyon (approx. 3-4 hours) to the Puritama (3400m). Here we take our time to enjoy an unforgettable rest in natural thermal hot springs before going up by vehicle to the Tatio Geysers where we camp (4300m). Accommodation: Camp DAY 4: TATIO GEYSERS LAGUNA BLANCA Observation of the geysers early in the morning. Back to San Pedro de Atacama. Drive across the border to Bolivia to reach Laguna Blanca refuge (4400m). Accommodation: Refuge DAY 5: LAGUNA BLANCA - LICANCABUR - LAGUNA BLANCA Early in the morning transfer to the base of Licancabur volcano (4700m). Ascent (8-10h) to the summit (5916m). Back to Laguna Blanca refuge. Accommodation: Refuge

3 3/6 DAY 6: LAGUNA BLANCA - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA Transfer back to San Pedro de Atacama. Accommodation: Hotel Meals: Breakfast, Lunch DAY 7: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA - CALAMA (OUT) Transfer to Calama airport. END OF SERVICES. 6 6/6 SECURITY: This trip includes a very good and responsible acclimatization phase, which is the base of any successful high mountain expedition. Of course we recommend an adequate physical preparation and good personal equipment. In order to guarantee maximum security for all expeditions we carry, for each group, emergency oxygen equipment (for mountains with more than 6000m), VHF radio transceivers, a first aid kit and according to the expeditions we also bring hyperbaric chamber and GPS. Additionally, travellers must have an insurance covering medical and evacuation expenses in case of accident. We require signing a responsibility discharge form in case of accident. All our guides have an excellent ground knowledge and extensive experience as mountain guides. We know that reaching the summit is more than a dream for any mountaineer. That is why we do our best to make all ascents successful. Most of the time, thanks to our real experience on these summits, we succeed.
