2 JEFFERSON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS TEACHERS SALARY SCHEDULE (Salary Schedule III) STEP RANK III RANK III + 15 RANK II RANK II + 15 RANK I DOCTORATE Teachers entering the Jefferson County Schools system are placed on the salary schedule in accordance with earned degrees, credits and prior experience as recognized by Kentucky state statutes. Newly employed teachers may receive credit for a maximum of ten (10) years on the salary schedule. The ten (10) years may be prior teaching experience or a combination of prior teaching experience and military service. A maximum of two (2) years service credit may be given for military service upon presentation of an honorable discharge document (DD214) at time of hire. A maximum of four (4) years salary service credit may be given for teaching/work experience gained prior to the ten (10) years immediately preceding employment. Up to four (4) years of experience credit will be deducted from the total years experience of T & I teachers not holding a Bachelor s Degree. Prior experience will be allowed for elementary, secondary, or college teaching recognized by Kentucky state statutes. A minimum of an equivalent of one hundred forty (140) days taught in any one school year is required for allowance of one (1) year s experience credit. In no event shall a teacher be allowed experience credit above the maximum allowed in any rank of the salary schedule.

9 EXTRA SERVICE RATES Administrators: Employees paid on Family II or IV salary schedule may not be paid for Extra Service during their work year with the exception of the winter and spring break when they are not scheduled to work. Any request for payment must have the signature of the Administrator s supervisor.
