13 Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone One of the largest urban regeneration projects in the UK. The 70 hectare area in the heart of Bristol, with Temple Meads railway station at its centre, was officially opened in April Its targets are to create 4,000 jobs in the first five years and around 17,000 in the 25 year lifespan of the project. 14 Twinned with Guangzhou. Bristol & China In 2013, Bristol was one of only twelve European cities to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the EU China Sustainable Urbanisation Forum in Beijing. The MOU will last for a period of 2 years and will focus upon projects within the Guangzhou International Innovation City (Panyu District). Bristol one of fifteen European cities to participate in a pilot project on Smart City cooperation. Working with cities from across China to collectively identify areas of best practice exchange and subsequent areas of cooperation. Uk-China project is the first FCO project in China led by UK local authorities. This is a new example of China and the UK working together at a city level, to play a key role in urbanisation development in China.
