2 Introduction Catalonia Smart Strategy (Smart Catalonia) has set a goal to convert Catalonia into a leading international Smart Region that will take advantage of the use of technology and digital information to be able to innovate in public services, boost economic growth and become a more intelligent, sustainable and inclusive society. Reactivate the economy & strengthen production structures Incentives to create new industries Catalonia international projection Smart Catalonia goals Intelligent, sustainable and inclusive development Optimize, transform and create new services for citizens More implication of citizenship in public services 2

3 Introduction The Digital Agenda for Catalunya 2020 (idigital), the Research and Innovation Smart Specialization Strategy of Catalunya (RIS3CAT) and the Industrial Strategy of Catalunya set the reference framework where Smart Catalonia will be deployed smart CATALONIA 3

4 From to Smart Region What is a? A is a city seeking to address public issues via ICT based solutions on the basis of a multistakeholder, municipally based partnership. These solutions are developed and refined through initiatives, either as discrete projects or (more usually) as a network of overlapping activities. The strategies and initiatives of a must include at least one of the following characteristics (objectives and/or modes of operation): smart governance, smart living, smart mobility, smart economy and smart environment.
