1 Intermediate Vlleyball Rules And Prcedures COURT SET-UP & TAKE DOWN All teams are respnsible fr assisting with the curt set up and take dwn. This includes: Setting up the vlleyball standards Attaching the nets Raising the basketball nets All teams wh play in the final game slt are respnsible fr assisting with taking dwn the nets and ensuring all garbage is cleaned up and gyms are left in gd cnditin. SUBSTITUTE PLAYERS Teams are welcme t invite substitutes ut t the games. ALL substitutes MUST sign a waiver prir t participating. Any substitute player that has played ver 50% f the games is asked t pay the full individual league fee. Players must have played at least 50% f the games t play in playffs. Teams wh are lking fr a substitute player are encuraged t use the members blg n the web site t find substitutes frm ther teams. Therefre, as part f every teams scre, we ask that a spirit scre is als submitted. In the event there is a tie, psitining will be decided based n the spirit scre. Belw is a descriptin f the spirit scre system: SPIRIT SCORE DESCRIPTIONS **Teams may use fractin pints as well (e.g. 4.25, 4.5, 4.75) 5 - The ther team was a great team and we really enjyed playing against them. During the game they really didn't play by the rules at all, and didn't want t learn the rules. SCORE SUBMISSION Team Captains are respnsible fr submitting scres within 24 hurs f the game. This includes submitting a spirit scre fr the ppsing team. A wn match = a scre f 1 win. If captains cntinue t nt enter scres, a default scre f 0 will be given and a spirit scre f 5 will autmatically be given t the ppsing team. PLAYING AREA Playing surface width and length may vary with gym availability (9m x 9m regulatin). NET AND POSTS Net height will be 8 feet. BALL Teams are t use the vlleyball issued by the CATS league, given in the ball bag. Teams may use an alternate vlleyball, as lng as bth captains agree. In the case f a disagreement, the CATS issued vlleyball is t be used. TEAMS All teams must select a captain and assistant captain. Teams are required t select a team name and team shirt clur. Default and Incmplete Team - In the event f player shrtages, the first set is defaulted ten (10) minutes after the scheduled start time, the secnd set is defaulted twenty (20) minutes after the scheduled start time, the third set and match is defaulted thirty (30) minutes after the scheduled start time. The secnd and third matches are autmatically scheduled t start five (5) minutes after the end f the previus match is cmpleted. The scres f the defaulted sets are 0 25, 0 25, and 0 15, respectively. Each team will prvide a supervisr upn each serve. SUPERVISORS All games are self-fficiated as CATS believes in Fair Play by all players; hwever, each team is required t prvide a supervisr fr each serve. A supervisr is t stand at the net (ne n each side). A supervisr is there t prvide a 2 nd pinin r make a call that a player is unable t make n his / her wn. A supervisr can make calls f any faults at the net as he / she has the best pint f view. These calls will be final and shuld be agreed upn by bth supervisrs. Supervisrs can als make sideline ut -f -bund calls. If the ppsing team disagrees with an ut-f-bund sideline call, the serve is redne. PLAYER S EQUIPMENT Ftwear must be running type shes with nn-marking sles. During wet/snwy weather, players are required t wear alternative ftwear t the gyms.

3 Head gear is restricted t hair tie backs and/r sweat bands. All players are respnsible fr his / her equipment. Please ensure all valuables are kept in a safe and secure space. SCORING Teams will play 1 match per night. Each match cnsists f 5 sets. Rally Pint System - A pint is given t the team that des nt cmmit a fault during each rally (with every serve, ne team r the ther is awarded a pint). A rally pint system will be used. The first 4 sets will be t 25. The 5th set will be t 15 pints. Ttal curt time is 1 ½ hurs. Teams must win a set by a minimum lead f 2 pints. A match is wn when a team wins 3 ut f the 5 sets. TEAM LINE UP Starting Line Up - There must be a maximum f six (6) players n the curt at all times, at least tw (2) must be female and (2) must be male. A team is permitted t play with 4 players (2 female, 2 male) withut default. The empty fifth and sixth psitin in the rtatin is cnsidered a hle and is skipped ver in service rtatin and a pint is alltted t the ther team. Use f the hle requires an autmatic lss f service and ne pint being awarded t the ppsing team whenever the hle psitin cmes int the service psitin. Late arrival and filling f the hle psitin by an additinal player (wrking twards having 6 players) eliminates the hle. Hles must be set in the rtatin at the beginning f each game. A player wh arrives late must fill the psitin f the hle. Only exceptin: if during the night there is injury, d nt have t play with a hle, r an additinal hle. See existing rules 11.2 and 17. ROTATION ORDER Player rtatin is t be set and flw withut change fr each entire set, rder f players is t remain cnstant. Players arriving after any set has cmmenced must be annunced by their captain t the ppsing team befre jining the set in prgress. All players must be within their curt and in their prper rtatin at the mment f cntact with the ball by server. SUBSTITUTION Exceptinal Substitutins - Permitted in cases f injury nly. BASIC VOLLEYBALL RULES FOR PLAYING THE GAME Each team is permitted a 5 minute warm up after gym set up. Three minutes are permitted between sets Start game by vlleying fr the serve Authrizatin f Service - After having checked that teams are ready t play the server will call ut service prir t serving the ball.

4 Each server may accumulate a maximum five (5) cnsecutive pints prir t rtatin. One Service attempt is permitted. There is an eight (8) secnd time limit. Server can have the vlleyball drp within the 8 secnds and still serve, as lng at there was n attempt t serve the vlleyball. Players can nly d this nce. The lsing team serves. Basic Vlleyball Rules Vilatins The fllwing are sme basic vlleyball rules fr vilatins. The result f a vilatin is a pint fr the ppnent. When blcking a ball cming frm the ppnents curt, cntacting the ball when reaching ver the net is a vilatin if bth: 1) yur ppnent hasn t used 3 cntacts AND 2) they have a player there t make a play n the ball When attacking a ball cming frm the ppnents curt, cntacting the ball when reaching ver the net is a vilatin if the ball hasn t yet brken the vertical plane f the net. Crssing the curt centerline with any part f yur bdy. Exceptin: if it s the hand r ft, the entire hand r entire ft must crss fr it t be a vilatin. Serving ut f rder. Back rw player blcking (deflecting a ball cming frm their ppnent), when at the mment f cntact the back rw player is near the net and has part f his/her bdy abve the tp f the net (an illegal blck).
