3 Western Canada s Coastal Ports move containers to two intermodal facilities (CP and CN) in the Calgary Region Million TEUs for Prince Rupert Port in 2013 CN CP 2.83 Million TEU s for Port Metro Vancouver in Busiest Port in Canada. The container trade, where strategy and action can make the greatest difference, will form the primary emphasis of this report. (APGCI, p.5) - 2 -

4 The Calgary Region s central location in Western Canada minimizes outbound transportation costs (by truck) for many supply chains and destinations across Western Canada... Virtually every port around the world is planning to use rail to move containers quickly to some variation of an inland terminal (inland port) where processing and distribution can continue free of congestion.
