19 Biofuel Programme Bioethanol Existing ethanol producers include the Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC) which established two large bioethanol plants with a total annual capacity of 1.8 million gal of sugarcane-based ethanol. Commercial production, distribution, and use commenced in April Bioethanol Production Private Sector Great Wall Company is cultivating 100,000 acres of sugarcane in Northern Shan State to produce Bio-Ethanol. The company is also completing the establishment of a factory with a capacity of 3700 gal/day, and another new plant will be constructed by Shwe Li Energy Company in Katha Township. Myanmar Chemical Engineers Group (3) Co., Ltd. (MCEG) has converted 300 hectres of virgin land which does not have access to electricity into Integrated and self-sustainable farm in Kwinkauk of Ayeyarwaddy Division and MCEG installed one unit of 1,500 LPD bio-ethanol plant and one unit of 1000 KPD syrup production plant.

26 Biodiesel Small scale or Community Scale biodiesel plants were established. Biodiesel production by private sector Agri-Technology Co. Ltd. -10,000 acres at Ayeyarwaddy Division, Ngapudaw Tsp. to cultivate mainly Jatropha and later cassava and sugarcane. MICDE is preparing MOU to carry out biodiesel production project with Korea Company (HAE JOYUB BIO ENERGY MYANMAR Corp.) Total cultivated areas of 150,000 ha will be provided from MICDE to produce biofuel crops. Japan Bio Energy Development Co., Ltd. (JBEDC) established a joint venture with a Myanmar private company for biofuel development. The company, Japan- Myanmar Green Energy, aims to export 5,000 ton of jatropha seeds and start operating its first oil mill plant in As a present target, to distribute and export jatropha-derived biofuel.
27 BIOFUEL BIODIESEL THE GOVERNMENT'S GUIDANCE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BIODIESEL PRODUCTION. Increase Palm plantation in available land (existing production is 4000 metric ton of crude palm from 114,000 acres.) To promote Physic nut / Jatropha / Castrol Oil plantation. 51 Bio fuel is one of the alternative sources of energy to replace depleting fossil fuel and to protect global warming. Feasible Study and Knowledge Sharing such as which agriculture crop is more suitable and without confliction with food and feed. the research and development of renewable energy. By knowing the trend of the energy security what the other countries do, KKS is helping to select the best way for the country s future energy security. With these technology, product and the R&D we are expecting to becomes one of a helping hand to solve the country s energy security. Recently we had significantly successed the invention of environmental friendly Biomass gasifier and started to export the product and technology in the region or around the world.
52 Conclusion Myanmar RE development efforts will be mostly for the biomass to electricity generation, Biogas and bio fuel production. This is in line with government plan for rural poverty alleviation and raising the standard of living. Myanmar look forward to cooperate with this regional countries in RE technologies assisting in it s aim to utilize RE to reduce poverty. Private - Public - Partnership is being promoted and need sustainable support from every parties.
53 This is just the start of Bio fuel & RE development in Myanmar. The following is the major motivator to our further improvement. The Government Support or the favor of policy makers to encourage and spread out this technology and application. The Funder: for Project Implementation and Further Research Program in Renewable Energy and energy security program to develop more efficient ones.
