1 TRY-OUT INFORMATION & APPLICATION Cheerleader and Golden Pom Teams TRY-OUT DATES: *Try-outs are closed to the public Golden Poms Dance Team APRIL April pm *Check in on the North Concourse of Moby Arena April pm *Moby Arena April 25 10am 6pm *Final Day of Try-outs, Teams will be selected & announced CHEER TEAM APRIL April pm *Check in on the North Concourse of Moby Arena April pm *Moby Arena April 25 10am 6pm *Final Day of Try-outs, Teams will be selected & announced All times are approximate and subject to change. A detailed schedule will be given out the first day of tryouts. All applicants must either attend the try-outs in person & in full OR submit a video application. QUICK INFO TO KNOW REGARDING THE SEASON * Applicants must be currently enrolled or enrolling for the 2015 Fall CSU and must be in good academic standing, cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. * Applicants must live in the Fort Collins, CO area during the academic school year. * Applicants must attend the try-outs in its entirety or submit video showing required skills by deadline. (requirements are listed below) * Applicants are required to be covered by personal injury medical insurance throughout the period of being in the spirit CSU. * Applicants understand that decisions made by the coach & spirit coordinator are final. * Applicants must be available for summer fundraising, practices approximately between July 8-18th AND practices Mid-August if selected for the teams. APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO TRY-OUTS COMPLETED APPLICATION HEADSHOT PHOTO OF APPLICANT (RETURNEES DO NOT NEED TO SUBMIT) LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FROM CURRENT COACH, TEACHER/PROFESSOR OR SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR. (Returnees do not need to submit a letter) MEDICAL WAIVER REGISTRATION FEE: $40.00 to be enclosed with your application. This is a non-refundable fee. 4 CHEER SKILLS Requirements ***All of the required skills will be performed in front of a panel of judges. *CHEER this will be taught at the first day of try-outs *DANCE this will be taught at the first day of try-outs FEMALE TUMBLING REQUIREMENTS Standing Back Handspring (Will be with no spots on wood floor & mats) Round-off Back Handspring Back Tuck One Additional Tumbling Series Pass-minimum of a tuck MALE TUMBLING REQUIREMENTS Willingness to learn MALE STUNTING One Two-part Stunt Sequence ALL GIRL STUNTING Step in Stretch-Full Down Two-part Stunt Sequence-ending with at least a Full Down *(Bases may be asked to rotate base positions) WHAT TO WEAR TO TRY-OUTS: All applicants are required to be Game Ready for the entire try-out, Full hair & make up. FEMALES: Black or Forest Green Sports Bra or Fitted Tank Top & Black or Forest Green shorts (Sports bras can be any CSU color or design). Athletic Shoes MALES: Black or Forest Green T-shirt & Black or Forest Green Shorts (Any CSU Apparel is ok) Athletic Shoes CHEER VIDEO REQUIREMENTS For those who physically cannot make the try-out in person. VIDEO MUST INCLUDE: SHORT INTRO stating name, where you re from, stunt position you re trying out for (top or base) and why you want to be apart of the RAM family. 6-8 COUNT DANCE-made up by applicant SHORT CHEER-made up by applicant REQUIRED STUNTING SKILLS REQUIRED TUMBLING SKILLS Videos must be received in the CSU office by April 20, Applicants will be contacted if selected for the teams. 5 GOLDEN POMS SKILLS Requirements ***All of the required skills will be performed in front of a panel of judges. 3 styles of dance will be taught at the clinic, and applicants will be required to demonstrate the dances. Styles will be a short *Hip Hop Dance, *Jazz Dance & *Pom. This will be in addition to the skills listed below: Triple pirouette (right and left) Quad pirouette (right and left) A la second turns (tours) Right leap Switch leap Switch center leap Turning disc Toe Touch Jump left leap center leap WHAT TO WEAR TO TRY-OUTS All applicants are required to be Game Ready for the entire try-out, Full hair & make up. Black or Forest Green Sports bra or Dance Top & Black or Forest Green Dance Pants/Capris/Shorts (Tops can be any CSU color and/or design-must Be CSU colors) POMS VIDEO REQUIREMENTS For those who physically can not make the try-out in person.
