1 Dear VCSA Scholarship Candidate, Thank you for your interest in applying for our 2015 VCSA Scholarship. VCSA is a nonprofit organization gathering students from various colleges and universities. Our goal is to help students further their education and to encourage students to give back to their community. We will be offering 3 scholarships, each scholarship is worth $300, to Vietnamese students and Vietnamese nonprofit organizations selected by our VCSA Board. The first scholarship is for an individual who demonstrates strong academic performance along with exceptional community service. The other two scholarships are for organizations that help to make a positive impact in the community. Please read carefully and fill out the application below. A complete application must be submitted by March 25, 2015 by 11:59 pm Pacific Time to scholarships@vcsa-online.com in order to qualify for the scholarship. An application is considered complete only if it is accompanied by the following documents, which must be submitted together with this application. VCSA is not responsible for materials lost or misdirected in the mail or by . For Individual Scholarship 1. Proof from the applicant s school certifying that the applicant is a student in good academic standing (recommended 3.0 GPA and above) unoffical transcript 2. An essay of under 500 words addressing the following topics: a. Your involvement in any public service or leadership role within the community b. The importance or value of acquiring a higher education c. Your specific challenge in pursuit of higher education 3. Recommendation letters, no more than two, sent directly to scholarships@vcsa-online.com. The letters shall be from someone other than a family member who has known you at least one (1) year and has been influential to your success. For Organization Scholarship 1. Proof that the organization is currently active in Orange County, California with a complete list of all the names and positions of the Board Members. 2. An essay of under 500 words address the following topics: a. The organization s mission statement as well as goals and contributions to the community b. The challenges and struggles that the organization is dealing with c. How the scholarship will impact the organization APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 25, 2015
