2 Complex Behaviour Service CBS provides itesive, time-limited support to childre with sigificat or severe learig disabilities ad the most challegig behaviour. CBS offers hads o support to childre ad their families to facilitate behavioural chage. CBS works primarily withi the family home but also offers families advice ad support to access the commuity. CBS ca also offer support ad cosultatio to other services (e.g. school ad respite) workig with childre who have or may be referred to CBS.

3 Complex Behaviour Service CBS forms part of the CAMHS etwork of services for childre with a learig disability. It is a tier 3 plus service, which works with childre at risk of family/ placemet breakdow. Childre who live i Derby City ad Souther Derbyshire may be eligible to access the service.

4 Overview of the CBS Team The team cosists of: Cliical Psychologists Specialist LD Nurses A office maager It is supported by: Iput from a Child ad Adolescet Psychiatrist

5 Referral Process All referrals eed to be made i writig. Usually, referrals are oly accepted for childre who have previously had extesive iput from other services (e.g. social care, cliical psychology, CAMHS-LD). Derby City: Referrals ca be made by paediatricias, child ad adolescet psychiatrists, cliical psychologists ad commuity learig disability urses. Souther Derbyshire: Childre are referred through a Sigle Poit of Etry.

6 What does CBS do? CBS carries out specialist assessmets ad itervetios. CBS provides advice ad hads o support to implemet recommeded itervetios. CBS works with families to help them to reach a better uderstadig of their child s behaviour ad support them to make chages. CBS discusses ideas ad itervetios with families at every stage ad try to work o issues that are importat to families to help improve their quality of life.

7 Assessmet Process Meetig with relevat professioals who have curret or past ivolvemet with the child. Meetig with the family to pla the assessmet: a iformatio pack is left with the family. Assessmet completed withi 6-8 weeks. Assessmet report writte ad the team meet to idetify suitable itervetios. Assessmet is shared with parets. Assessmet is shared with professioals.

8 Itervetio Process Itervetio care plas are agreed ad prioritised with parets. CBS provides hads o support to help parets to implemet the recommeded itervetios. These may iclude but are ot limited to: Support with routies (morig, eveig, bedtime) Behavioural ad commuicatio advice Sesory itervetios Commuity support Family/ siblig work Support with health issues (e.g. medicatio, appoitmets) Sharig itervetios with school, respite ad other services to esure a cosistet approach

9 Iteral Review After approximately 3 moths CBS review the work that has already bee completed ad pla what work is outstadig, usig a perso-cetred approach. A key perso/people (e.g. the referrer, social worker or class teacher) is ivited to the review meetig for professioals. Iformatio obtaied is the distributed to key people.

10 Discharge Process Whe the itervetios have bee completed or it is felt that o further progress ca be made, the discharge process begis.
