This course utilizes a variety of digital devices and software to capture digital images, sounds and video and then to organize them for use in future multimedia projects. Utilize industry standard software programs to produce preproduction project elements 3. Demonstrate the use of digital image capture devices and software by utilizing a variety of techniques to capture, store, convert and organize digital images. 4. Utilize a variety of tools and techniques to capture, store and convert digital images into a variety of formats. 5. Demonstrate the basics of digital audio manipulation tools utilizing digital recording devices and sound boards for file creation 6. Demonstrate the basics of digital video capture techniques utilizing basic digital video recording devices and software for the conversion of video files 7. Utilize a combination of digital image, audio and video capture devices and industry standard software and hardware to organize, convert and store elements for use in a multimedia project General Education Student learning outcomes: Students will demonstrate competence in using academic technology including finding, evaluating and utilizing appropriate information sources. Students will demonstrate an ability to think critically and analytically. Graded assignments and policies: Graded Assignments Projects: Students will be expected to complete a variety of hands-on projects, assignments and exercises utilizing the tools and software presented throughout the class. A comprehensive project will be required demonstrating proficiency with the combination of tools, techniques and software utilized during the course. Grading policy

College Documentation Styles Course Outline Weeks 1-2 Introduction to digital media equipment, hardware, software and relevant terminology for images, sounds and video. Weeks 3-4 Multimedia project planning, introduces brainstorming, storyboarding, comping, creative briefs and other tools for professional project organization. Students will utilize industry standard software programs to produce preproduction project elements.

5 Weeks 4-6 Tools, terminology and techniques for image capture utilizing digital cameras. How the technology captures images and stores them digitally, lighting effects, RAW mode, compression, the characteristics and uses of various file types. Students will utilize a variety of tools and techniques to capture, store and convert digital images into a variety of formats. Week 7 Digital image terminology and concepts exam Weeks 7-9 Tools, terminology and techniques for digital audio capture, formats and compression. Will learn the basics of digital audio manipulation tools utilizing digital recording devices and sound boards for file creation. Week 10 Digital audio terminology and concepts exam Weeks Tools, terminology and techniques for digital video capture, formats and codecs. Students will learn the basics of digital video capture techniques utilizing basic digital video recording devices and software for the conversion of video files. Weeks Students will utilize a combination of digital image, audio and video capture devices and industry standard software and hardware to organize, convert and store elements for use in a multimedia project. Week 16 Digital video terminology and concepts exam and final comprehensive project completion.
