Under close supervision, provides direct nursing care and health education to clients in a home, school, or clinic setting and performs miscellaneous nursing activities. Assists in the development of policies and procedures. Assists with the accreditation process as needed. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Participates in grants as needed. Works independently on assignments. QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; experience in public health preferred; pediatric a plus; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. BSN highly preferred. LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio, maintain licensure and required CEU s; cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification; completion of FEMA courses in Incident Command System Training (IS 100, 200, 700, and 800); must maintain a valid State of Ohio driver s license; must maintain vehicle insurability in accordance with Mercer County policy and must meet current immunization requirements. EQUIPMENT OPERATED: The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive. Standard business office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, copier, fax machine, etc.); medical equipment, devices, and instruments; motor vehicle operation (may operate county-owned vehicles). Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium work. In cases of emergency, unpredictable client situations, and/or department needs, may be required to lift, push, pull, and/or carry objects heavier than DOL strength ratings recommend.

3 POSITION DESCRIPTION Inside Page 1 of 3 JOB DESCRIPTION AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS: JOB DUTIES in order of importance ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: % (1) Delivers various general public health services to Mercer County s program participants as well as employees; interviews clients to determine needs for services; develops and administers medical plans based on client needs; determines eligibility for various vaccine programs; provides direct nursing care (e.g., administers injections and medications, conducts medical testing, gathers vital information, etc.); instructs clients on prevention of and care for health problems; disseminates education materials to program participants; refers clients to other public health agencies, social service programs, or medical specialists as needed; documents the delivery of services in accordance with policy and procedure. 4 POSITION DESCRIPTION Inside Page 2 of 3 % (4) Conducts school visits as determined necessary; assists school authorities in referring problems; provides required school screenings; coordinates and conducts health screenings in health clinics, occupational settings, and other community settings; conducts assessments and administers immunizations; refers clients with special needs to appropriate resources/programs; presents selected health education programs in the community or schools; instructs and counsels clients in selecting behaviors for a healthy lifestyle; conducts outreach and case finding activities to promote positive health programs.
