4 Ceremony & Reception Sites Weddings at the Cliff House Estate feature four acres of gardens and grounds for you and your guests to enjoy, along with a selection of unique sites for a ceremony, social hour and reception. Each location has electrical service available, and in the event of inclement weather, all weddings also include use of our Vineyard Tent. Here s an overview of the three settings to choose from for your special day: The Vineyard Tent is the perfect place for your reception, and also provides reassuring weather protection for all wedding events photograph aip photography photograph taylor chad The Enchanted Forest (to your immediate left as you enter the grounds) offers natural beauty, soaring vine-covered evergreens and shade that creates a perfect fairytale location for your ceremony. Electricity available for DJ setup Accommodates up to 300 guests for a ceremony The Vineyard Tent, which overlooks our arbors, the Spokane river valley and downtown Spokane, is our most popular spot for receptions. This 5,000 sq. ft. space, located on the west end of the property, features a sunset view and offers shelter in the event of inclement weather. As your day transforms into evening, twinkling lights from the valley below add to the sparkling romance of this special setting. 5 Ceremony & Reception Sites (continued) photograph cindy cieluch photography Ceremony & Reception Sites include the Vineyard Tent, Enchanted Forest and, shown here, the Estate Courtyard The Estate Courtyard is a versatile area comprised of several unique spaces, offering a lovely selection of settings for a ceremony, reception or social hour. The Estate Courtyard, featuring unparalleled vistas of the valley below, is the mansion s front yard and includes flower beds, a rose garden and our acclaimed life-size checker board. The storybook setting is first revealed as you pass under the Gate House archway, and extends all the way to the historic Cliff House mansion. A patio area right beside the mansion is tented from May to October, offering additional bistro seating for social hours; sides can be added to the patio tent to create convenient, protected space for reception catering services. The Estate Courtyard also includes the Croquet Court and the Event Stage: The Croquet Court, outlined with low rock walls surrounding a large paved surface, offers electrical service, concrete flooring for secure footing and our famous vistas. The Event Stage a raised platform used by bands during our popular Summer Sunday Concerts Series is also a perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony. From May through September, the Stage is tented (visible in photo above and also on page 3), and power is available adjacent to the Cliff House. 6 Event Planning & Catering When planning a wedding, it is common to feel nervous there are so many different details to consider! The caterer you partner with will take care of a wide range of things for you, and due to the nature of our historic estate, combined with the critically important responsibilities delegated to the caterer, full-service catering from one of our approved providers is required for a wedding at Arbor Crest. Your Caterer will be responsible for the following: Creating personalized event plans and menu options, customized just for you, from tasteful and simple to unique and decadent Providing complete site setup, breakdown and cleanup services for both ceremony and reception Securing rentals through Event Rents, our designated rental company, and assisting with any other additional outside services Handling all food- and beverage-related setup, service and cleanup Scheduling wait staff and setup/cleanup personnel Providing a supervisor on-site throughout the entire event Leaving the facility and equipment after the event in a condition satisfactory to Arbor Crest staff The Caterer must also budget enough time for setup, decoration and cleanup within the contracted rental time, and be off of the premise no later than 11pm per Arbor Crest s facility contract. Event cleanup and breakdown extending past the rental time will be charged an additional $100 per hour. 7 Details & Policies w i ne cellars ESTATE HOURS & WEDDING TIME FRAMES Arbor Crest is open to the public daily as follows: October thru April: Sat Wed, Noon 5pm; Thurs and Fri, Noon 8pm May thru September: Daily, Noon 5pm; Thurs and Sun, Noon 8pm (Sunday weddings are available only in October.) The time window for Wedding Day reservations is 2pm to 11pm. The 2pm start time offers early access for the bridal suite, vendor deliveries, setup and photos. The hours from 5pm to 10pm offer you and your guests exclusive use and enjoyment of the grounds, allowing 5 hours for the ceremony and reception (commencing no earlier than 5pm). All aspects of your event including music and bar service must conclude by 10pm. The final hour, from 10 to 11pm, is required for event cleanup and breakdown. WINE, BEER & ALCOHOL We are proud to feature over 15-award winning wines to select from for your event. To help you make your choices, a complimentary wine tasting prior to your event is included in our wedding package. A 15 percent discount is offered on all wine purchased by the contracting party on the day of your event. Square Wheel Brewery beer, founded by our winemakers brother, is also available to be served at your event. Bottled beer is also available. All wine and beers are served by Arbor Crest staff and are billed based on consumption at the conclusion of the event. Additional services for a no-host cash bar are available. Please ask the Event Sales manager for details if interested, additional fees will apply. Glassware, including wine glasses, are not included in the venue price. Glassware may be rented through Event Rents. Arbor Crest wines, Square Wheel Brewery beers and bottled beers purchased at Arbor Crest are the only alcohol permitted on the Arbor Crest Estate. Due to state licensing regulations, hard liquor and outside alcohol is strictly prohibited on the grounds (which includes the parking lot and the Cliff House mansion). You are responsible for alerting your wedding party, families and guests of this in advance. Alcohol service and music must conclude no later than 10pm (last call no later than 9:30). MINORS, SECURITY SERVICES Minors are permitted on the Arbor Crest Wine Cellars Estate for private events only. Minors must be supervised at all times, and due to safety concerns, certain areas of the grounds are off limits to minors. Security is mandatory for all events after business hours, any event with 50 or more guests, and any event where minors will be present. All weddings at Arbor Crest include required security services and are scheduled at Arbor Crest s discretion. PLANNING & CATERING SERVICE REQUIREMENTS Due to the responsibilities of the caterer (as detailed on the Event Planning and Catering page), along with the nature of our historic estate and grounds, a wedding at Arbor Crest requires a full-service caterer selected from our list of Approved Caterers. Catered for You is our preferred provider. Fees and taxes related to your menu, setup/ breakdown, staffing, etc., will be contracted with and handled directly through the caterer you select from our list. DECORATIONS The County of Spokane does not permit the use of sparklers or other flammable items classified as fireworks on the Estate. Arbor Crest does not allow the use of glitter, confetti, silly string, or any other non-biodegradable materials. Torches are not allowed and open flame candles must be in a secure container with at least 2 of enclosure. Please consult with the Event Sales Manager on any special requests to determine any specific limitations related to hanging or staking elements on the grounds, or other specific considerations. Arbor Crest weddings include use of 300 white plastic folding chairs. Additional chair options, including chivari chairs and resin padded chairs, are available through Event Rents at the expense of the contracting party. Arbors are not included in our wedding package. You are welcome to bring your own arbor, rent an arbor through Event Rents or work with a local florist who will often have specialty arbors available for rental. All decorations must be set up on the day of your event and removed at the conclusion of your event. WEATHER, GROUNDS & THE SEASONS When planning an outdoor wedding, it is important to keep in mind that the weather and change of seasons are ultimately up to Mother Nature. Arbor Crest staff will do their best to accommodate your group and work with you to plan for inclement weather. However, please keep in mind that certain situations, such as extreme heat, wind or rain, are out of everyone s control. Our landscaping (flowers, vineyards, ivy, etc.) naturally changes with the seasons. If you have questions about our grounds and what will be in bloom at certain times of year, please do not hesitate to ask our Event Sales Manager. The Arbor Crest grounds are subject to change. Equipment and landscapes may be removed or added, including tenting, at the discretion of Arbor Crest. RESTROOMS For wedding guests, restrooms are located in the Wine Bar & Tasting Room. Restrooms are available inside the Cliff House exclusively for the bridal party and immediate family. To provide bathroom facilities during our Summer Concerts, we also have porta-potties on-site; these may be used during wedding events if desired.

8 Reservations, Pricing & Payments RESERVATION DEPOSITS & PAYMENTS To secure your wedding date, a deposit of 50% of the facility fee is required. For peak season dates, the following deposits are due based on the day of the week: To reserve a Monday through Thursday date, the required deposit is $1,500 For a Friday, the deposit is $2,000 For a Saturday wedding, the deposit is $2,500 Ninety days before the event, the remaining balance is due in full. Each 9-hour reservation window (from 2pm to 11pm) includes up to 5 hours for ceremony and reception, commencing no earlier than 5pm. Afternoon entry is available starting at 2pm, providing early access for the bridal party, vendor support, deliveries, setup, photos, etc. Patrons and vendors must vacate the premises no later than 11pm. Please work with your caterer to ensure enough time for setup, breakdown and cleanup within the contracted rental time. Event cleanup and breakdown extending past the rental time will be charged an additional $100 per hour. 9 photograph don hamilton photgraphy A History of the Cliff House Estate Chapter One The Cliff House Estate was originally established in 1924 by Royal Newton Riblet. An inventor and mechanical innovator, Riblet not only developed patented devices such as a pattern sprinkler system, a mechanical parking garage and the squarewheel tractor, he was also the chief engineer and designer of his beautiful home and estate. At the time of its construction in the early 1920s, it was among the most wired homes in the nation. The estate features an arched basalt gatehouse leading to a threestory Florentine-style mansion, with grounds that include terraced gardens, a red-roofed basalt gazebo, a unique swimming pool and a life-size checkerboard. Riblet s first wife died in 1903 after just 8 years of marriage, leaving him a single father with three young children. In search of companionship and help, he would marry and divorce five times before marrying his seventh wife, Mildred. They lived together on the estate until his death in She continued living in the mansion until she died in 1978 (she was 32 years younger than her husband). Chapter Two In the early 1980s, Harold and Marcia Mielke began a venture that would transform the inventor s mansion into our region s premier destination winery. After purchasing a winery in California, they relocated operations to Spokane Valley to take advantage of the budding Washington wine industry, establishing Arbor Crest Wine Cellars as the state s 29th winery (a number that has since grown to over 850). They acquired the old Riblet estate, which had been designated as a national historic landmark in 1979, to serve as the winery s idyllic new headquarters. Chapter Three By 1999, the family business was being expanded to the next generation as the Mielke s daughter, Kristina Mielke van Löben Sels, departed her position as associate winemaker at Ferrari-Carano Vineyards in Sonoma County, California, to take over as head winemaker for Arbor Crest. Together with her husband Jim van Löben Sels, Arbor Crest s General Manager and Viticulturalist, Kristina now celebrates over 15 years of handcrafting elegant, award-winning varietals for Arbor Crest. They remain committed to producing exceptional wines, using Washington s best fruit, sourced from some of the most well established and respected vines in the state. Kristina and Jim continue to grow the winery from a strong foundation of family values and a keen sense of stewardship for their community gem.
