2 Installing M-Files Client Welcome! The following slides will demonstrate how you can install the M-files client on your desktop or laptop. While you can still use the web interface to access our clearinghouse database, the m-files client is accompanied by several features that make your work with the database much more convenient.

3 Step 1 First,open the M-files installation file provided to you, or download the latest version from Note the instructions in the dialogue that appears and make sure you download the 32 bit or the 64 bit version according to your computers specifications. When you are ready, click 'Next'.

5 Step 2 The next dialogue will be the M-files software license agreement. Its a simple document that governs the use of the software. Read it over if you like, and select the radio button beside 'I accept this license agreement' and click 'Next' whenever you're ready.

7 Step 3 Now we'll select what parts of the M-Files suite we wish to install. In this case, simply select the radio button beside 'Normal Installation', and select the 'M-Files Client' option only. After you've done this, click 'Next'

9 Step 4 Next, we select where we want the M-Files system files to be installed. If you would like these system files to be located in a different location, simply select 'Browse' and browse to your desired folder. In most cases however, the Default folder in 'My Programs' should suffice. Please Note: These refer to the files responsible for the running of the program, and NOT the documents being managed. For most users there will be no reason to ever browse into the installed folder again. When you are ready, click 'Next'.

11 Step 5 This is just a preliminary step before the installer does all the real heavy lifting. Take a breath if you feel the need to, and click 'Next' whenever you're ready.

13 Step 6 This might take a while, depending on the speed and condition of your computer. Perhaps you could use this time to make a sandwich or catch up on some reading?

15 Step 7 Once this step is complete M-Files will be installed on your computer. This means you'll have an extra M-Files menu in every program in your Microsoft Office Suite, as well as a new 'M' drive in your Windows Browser. M-Files is fully integrated in your Microsoft Windows environment. Nifty huh? But our work isn't over here. Make sure that 'Start M-Files Client Configuration option is selected (You'll see a green check in the box if it is) and click 'Finish'.

17 Step 8 Now, the client configuration window will pop up. If for some reason it does not pop up or you need to access and edit the client configuration later, you can always find it at the lower right corner of your windows screen with a right click on the blue M icon besides the clock. Now, press the Add button in the client configuration window and enter the values as shown in the next slide. Then press OK.

19 Step 9 You will then be asked to Login. Make sure you select M-Files user. Please then enter the account information you were given by the CCCCC now. If you are not a registered user, you still can access the public data by entering as a guest with username and password guest / guest.

21 Step 10 Press ok again. Now choose the Regional Clearinghouse Mechanism as your Document Vault.

23 Step 11 Now press the OK button and close the M-Files Client Settings window. Look out for the Explore M-Files Icon on your desktop and double-click it or right-click on the little blue M icon to the lower right of your screen and select Explore M-Files. Select the Clearinghouse document vault and start entering or searching data. Congratulations! You have successfully finished the installation.
