1 Setting up Sharp MX-Color Imagers for Inbound Fax Routing to or Network Folder MX-2300, MX-2600, MX-2700, MX-3100, MX-3501, MX-4501, MX-5500, MX-6200, MX-6201, MX-7000, MX-7001, *MX-M850, *MX-M950, *MX-M1100 *Monochrome Imagers Note: The Sharp MFP must have the optional Fax Board installed in order for Inbound Fax Routing to function. 1

2 Setting Up Inbound Routing To Log in to the Sharp Imager s web interface home page by typing the IP address of your imager using a web browser such as Internet Explorer. Note: The IP address shown below is a common example only. Yours may be different. Enter the IP address

5 Entering Destinations On MX Color Imagers Choose from the drop-down menu Enter the display name This adds the user to the destination s front page of the Sharp scanner the first initial of the user s first name will be automatically entered Enter the address Click Submit 5

8 Determining Microsoft Exchange Server STMP Settings Step 3. Choose View or change existing accounts and click Next. Step 4. Click the Change button. Step 5. This is the SMTP server. Note: You can copy and paste the SMTP server from the Accounts screen to the Sharp Primary Server field (see previous screen) by highlighting it and doing a Ctrl + C (cut) and Ctrl + P (paste) from the keyboard. Note: If you do not have a DNS server, you will need to enter the IP address (not name) of the SMTP server in the Primary Server field (see previous page). See the next page to determine how to obtain the IP address of the SMTP server. 8

12 Configuring The DNS Settings DNS Settings: Enter the IP address of YOUR Primary DNS Server. Enter the IP address of YOUR Secondary DNS Server. Enter YOUR Domain Name. 12

13 Configuring The SMTP ( Server) Settings Enter the IP address or name of the SMTP Server in the Primary Server Field. If you do not know this information, contact your system administrator. Note: The Information shown below is only an example. 13

14 Configuring The SMTP ( Server) Settings Enter a reply address in the Reply Address field. Suggestions: scanner@companyname.com or noreplyscanner@companyname.com Note: Most SMTP servers that do not require SMTP authentication do not require a legitimate address for this field. If the SMTP server does require authentication, check the SMTP Authentication box (see below) and enter a legitimate user name and password (click the Change Password box to be allowed to enter a password). To test the connection, click the Execute button. Be sure to click the Submit button (found at the top and bottom of the screen) when finished or the settings will be lost and you will receive a failed message. Enter the IP address (or name IF you have a DNS server) of YOUR server, Check this box IF authentication is required. 23 Setting Up A Network Folder On An MX Color Imager 1. Choose Network Folder from the Address Type drop menu 2. Enter the Address Name. Note: This will be the display name 3. Enter the Folder Path (IP address or Computer Name) of the computer where the Network Folder resides and Directory. Example: \\ipaddress\folder Note: This is case sensitive Faxes Choose Network Folder from the drop-down menu 4. User Name: This must be a Windows Local User (NOT Group). Be sure to give it full Security and Sharing rights. \\ \Faxes Case sensitive Case sensitive 5. Password: Enter the password assigned to the user. This is case sensitive NOTE: To add a Windows User and setup a Windows Network Folder, see the next pages. Click Submit when finished 23

29 Creating A Windows User Account Step 1. Go to the Control Panel > Double-Click User Accounts Step 2. Click the Advanced tab Step 3. Click the Advanced button 29

30 Step 4. Right-Click Users > Select New User Creating A Windows User Account Step 5. Click Create Choose a username Choose a password Confirm the password Recommended settings Newly added account 30

31 Promoting A Windows User Account To Administrator Step 6. Click Groups Step 7. Double-click Administrators Step 8. Type the newly created user Step 9. Click Locations Step 10. Select the local computer Step 11. Click Check Names. Note: It should underline the user. Click OK when finished Note: The new user is now listed in the Administrators Properties 31

32 Sharing A Windows Folder And Assigning Permissions 1. Create a folder. Right-click and choose Sharing and Security Note: You may need to click the Location button and select the local computer. See step Choose Share this folder and click the Permissions button. 3. Click the Add button Faxes 4. Type the name of the local user and click the Check Name button See step 5 Above 32
