2 The IFN Learning Resource Center is a coordination site for services, programs, and resources that promote academic success for the students. The Learning Resource Center is committed to supporting and guiding students as they strive to highest standards of academic excellence. Students are encouraged to take advantage of these resources and services early in their academic careers to enhance their prospects for academic success. All services should be made available free of charge to the students. There are two type of material in Resource Center Printed& Digital. Printed includes books, journals, newspapers etc. which forms a Library. Digital involves computers (Desktop), workshop space, overhead projector, subscription to online databases etc.
3 Library: The Library is a collection of books and printed material and is an essential source of information. Library policy should ensure the building and development of integrated collection that can help and enrich educational curricula. Our aim is to establish a suitable Library for the IFN to cadre the need of students and community. Furniture: Most essential part is the proper purchase, fixing and arranging of furniture for future use. Book Shelving: Wooden, plastic and other sort of shelving is available in stores. The steel cantilever shelving is most preferred for our library. This is the most common shelving where in small place a large no of books can be accommodated. They are easy to dismantle, shift and re-arrange. These are available lbl in single sided dd & double sided. dd Single sided dd (see bl below) are used attached hd to walls where, light ventilation does not block. The double sided are not being used in our library as the central space of the Library is being used for students activities, like seminars, training & classes. (16 Nos are required at present) see Annex A for picture.
4 Magazine Shelving (One number) This is used for display and storage of the Journals/Magazines. The latest issue is displayed on the rack and older one for 1-2 years can be stored on the book shelves. For the time being only one shelf is required which can accommodate journals at a time. (See Annex A for picture) Single Sided Smaller Shelves ( 2 Nos required at present) These shelves are required at the places where height is lesser like behind the counter and in office. (See Annex : A for Pic) Step Stools / Kick steps (1 No required at present) Used for reaching the upper portion of the shelves where students can't access books, are easily movable with a push of leg/kick. (see Annex :A for picture) Readers Tables and Chairs (See Invoice) Three readers tables and 12 stack chairs are required to be purchased for the library. Office Table and Chair (See Invoice) One office table and an arm chair is required for the Librarian s office. For list of furniture and cost please see the attached Invoice. (see Annex: A) Every library is governed by certain rules & regulations. List of such rules is attached (see Annex:B)
5 Library Supplies Includes, book pockets, date due slips, catalog cards, book cards, library stamps or library forms. Barcodes, barcode scanners. Library patron cards, self ink stamps, band daters. Book supporters, Magazine file cases, shelf label holders etc are required according to the requirement. Library Software Library Committee has to approve a suitable Software for the library that has been developed to handle basic housekeeping functions of a library. A powerful information and storage retrieval software is required to create electronic catalogues and indexes and support functions like : acquisition, cataloging, circulation, serials management, and reference services. Till that time an Accession Register can be used to record the books received in sequence. Library security System This system discourages theft of library material. Desensitizer & Re sensitizer and Radio frequency detection system can be purchased at a later stage as and when required.

9 Working Hours follows: It is proposed to keep library open for 4 hours everyday. The Library System remains open as Monday-Friday : Hours (Flexible : may change as required) Saturday/Sunday : Hours Holidays The Library remains closed every yyear on All Eid Days. (Eidul Adha & Eidul Fitr) NOTE : IFN Library will request the community members to donate books and other material. We will not buy books at present until the donations are reviewed and processed. Donations OR free materials, books on Gratis will be accepted. Please note that following material (Books) are not acceptable: Very old tear & wear and damaged and defaced books. Work books of school, used by children. Controversial contents of books. Duplicate/more than two copies of the same title of the books. //End//
