1 Overview The will serve as the information hub of the school. The library and media program has as its major goal the physical and intellectual access to materials within and outside the physical facility. An important aspect of this area is the continual use of printed material as well as electronic sources of information. These may be disseminated to and from the media center to all parts of the building, all schools within the district, homes and businesses that are on-line [either via satellite or telephone lines], college, university, and public libraries, and other remote sources as curriculum required. All curricular areas of the school will share the instructional technologies, which include computers, audio, database access, and Internet information technologies. The Media Center needs a computer commons area with at least 10 research stations which will be made accessible to all students and classroom staff any time during the school day, equipped with multiple software and CD access covering all academic areas, including access to the Internet. The library and media services area is to include satellite up-link and down-link, and multi-media production facilities. A centralized head end room will allow the distribution of telephone, cable, and network cabling to all areas of the building. easy access to parking for after-hour use by community and students adjacent to Core Academics near student and adult toilet rooms, particularly important for after-school use Page 1 Final Draft: June 2009
