1 Module 4.2- Upload Optimization The EXACT Steps to uploading YouTube Videos to YouTube, Blog, and Social Media Find the Video You Want to Upload Select the video you would like to upload from your computer. Make a List of Your Keywords Open up a document and identify the following: 1. Primary Keyword (x1) 2. Secondary Keywords (x3) 3. Other Keywords (x6) 4. Targeted Hashtags (x5) For the Primary Keyword (#1), that is the name of the Video File. For the Secondary Keywords (#2), use the KEYWORD PLANNER (image below) 2014 Video Traffic Academy Page 1

Secondary Keywords (x3): make money on youtube, making money on youtube, how to make money from youtube 3. 3 Optimize the Video File Properties NOTE: You may not be able to do this on a Mac The goal is to include your PRIMARY Keyword and secondary keywords in the Properties in these areas OF THE VIDEO FILE. 4 Add Keywords/Info to Video File Properties Once you've selected the Video File's Properties, choose the Details Tab and fill in the following information using your keywords: WARNING: This step will not work on a Mac a. Title (Main Keyword) b. Subject (Main and secondary keywords) c. Rating (give it 5 stars!) ;-) d. 5 e. Comments (short "benefit oriented" description putting Main Keyword first) f. Authors: James Wedmore, Video Marketing and Online Business Strategist g. Date Acquired: Use today's date h. Copyright: James Wedmore 4. Choose "Apply" at bottom of pop-up screen 5. Choose "Close" You are now ready to UPLOAD the video file to YouTube 2014 Video Traffic Academy Page 5

6 Upload Video File to Your YouTube Channel 1. Login to your YouTube Account 2. Click the UPLOAD Button at the top of YouTube (next to Search Bar) 3. On the next page, select "Unlisted" from the Dropdown menu 4. Drag and Drop the Video File 2014 Video Traffic Academy Page 6

7 DURING Upload - Add the Correct Title & Description 1. Create the Video Title (Your Primary Keyword) ============================= 2. Create the Description ( words): ============================= a. Add the Primary Keyword to the TOP of the Description. b. 8 c. Add the "meat" of the Description d. Add your Call to Action: For example: "Make sure not to miss a single video from James! Click here to Subscribe: e. Add your signature: For example: James Wedmore Strategic Video Marketing Coach JamesWedmore.com Facebook: Facebook.com/jameswedmore2 Get the Free YouTube Traffic Report: JamesWedmore.com/get-thereport f. 9 Add your Tags and Category 3. Add your TAGS a. Add your primary keyword FIRST b. Add your secondary keywords SECOND c. Add the "other keywords" d. Add the "targeted hashtags" 4. Choose a Category: ALWAYS keep it "how to and style" 2014 Video Traffic Academy Page 9

10 Add a Customized Thumbnail 1. Create a Custom Thumbnail GRAPHIC using this tutorial Video NOTE: You will optimize the file name of your customized thumbnail just like you optimized the name of your video file 1. Find your finished image file 2. Save the File - Name the file with your Main Keyword 3. Optimize the File Properties (See Step #4 above) 4. Choose "Custom Thumbnail" Button in YouTube 5. 12 SYNC the Transcript (.txt file) to your Video NOTE: All of this should be done BEFORE you make the video public. Once the video is public, the search engines will crawl and index it. So you want to have all this optimization in place prior to going public 1. Get the transcript 2014 Video Traffic Academy Page 12

13 a. Important: Do this before the video goes LIVE!!! 2. Make sure that the transcription is saved as a.txt document 3. Upload Transcription / Sync it with the Youtube Video a. From the Video's Watch Page, select the "closed captioned" button under the video (see image) b. Select "Add Captions" c. Select "Transcribe and Sync" d. Copy and Paste the TEXT into the box e. Press the SYNC button **NOTE: Make sure to come back and TEST that it worked properly by watching the video and looking at the closed captioning text at the bottom of the video 2014 Video Traffic Academy Page 13

15 Add a Keyword-Rich Annotation In this step, you'll need to add an annotation somewhere in the first 20 seconds of the VIDEO in the Bottom Left Hand Corner of the Video The Text Must include the PRIMARY KEYWORD + "CLICK To Subscribe!" 16 Add Annotations for the Video Directory At the end of the video, the "video directory" appears... Make sure that the links in the Video Directory are clickable Check for OTHER Annotations If you mention other videos and resources in your videos... be sure go through the ENTIRE video one time COMPLETELY to check and see if you need to add any additional annotations IMPORTANT: Once you have added ALL the annotations, be sure to choose "PUBLISH" in the top-right corner otherwise the annotations you added will not show up on the video Add This Video as the FEATURED Video in INVIDEO Programming 2014 Video Traffic Academy Page 16
