School assemblies are held on Mondays at 9am and on Fridays at 3 pm. Families are warmly invited to our assemblies. Assemblies are generally held in the Assembly Room. From the Principal s desk: Our fantastic Music Concert last week was attended by nearly every child from the school and the 4 year old Early Learning Centre group and what a wonderful night we all had. Thank you to Karen for working so effectively with the children for the year and for our staff who assisted in making costumes, sets and supporting the children on the night. A very special thank you to all our parents, family and friends who came along to share in the fun of music, rhythm and pure enjoyment. This year, with the theme of Around the World, we were able to celebrate many of the countries that our children s families come from. Watching the audience and the children on the stage, I could only be amazed at the progress of the children with their appreciation of and enjoyment of music under Karen s guidance for the past 6 years. The DVD will be ready very soon, thanks to Trudy so stay tuned for this. The Preps for next year have had their first transition session in the school and they have more sessions planned for the next few weeks. Step Up Day on Tues 8 December is when the children will learn who their new teacher will be and also who will be in their class for the next year. There are also a few staff changes for next year. I wish to congratulate Maria Burgess who has been appointed as the Assistant Principal for the year. Maria will be teaching Auslan and will be supporting the school in the important work of curriculum development, amongst other things. Melissa Bryson will have a class group next year after taking Auslan classes for the past 2 years. We have Shelley Stevens joining us from VCD and Catherine Miller will work at VCD in 2016 as part of a teacher swap. This is an exciting opportunity for both schools to share staff expertise and to provide professional learning for both staff. It is definitely an exciting time at Furlong Park School at the moment and we look forward to completing the year s work and activities and then preparing for the new school year. The last class for 2015 will be on Tuesday 1 December There is no cost to Furlong Park families to attend these classes. Friends and community members pay a small weekly fee Do not worry about your level of Auslan- all are welcome and the class will be matched to your ability. 3 Music Concert Raffle Donations of items to our basket Thank you to all who supported our Music Concert Raffle with their donations. A big thank you also to Tylisha Nguyen for the wrapping of all these prizes. Congratulations to all who were successful in winning a prize. All monies raised on the night go to our Music Program. Coffee Mornings at Furlong Park We are running informal coffee mornings at Furlong Park School every Thursday morning at 9.30am. Please feel welcome to come along and join us for a tea or coffee and a chat. Look forward to seeing you. It will be available shortly.

4 Swimming is back-term notices will be sent home soon Community News Christmas Trees for Sale The Lions Club of Sunshine will be selling Christmas trees at Bunnings Sunshine on the following dates: 5 & 6 December 12 & 13 December 19 & 20 December Tree cost is $60.00 If you are wishing to purchase a live tree this year please support them as Lions do support our school each year. We also have Lions Club Traditional Christmas Cakes for sale. Large 1.5kg $16.00 Small 1 kg $12.00 Should you wish to purchase a cake please send along your payment for the required size to our office and we will arrange for one to be sent home.
