Despite the storms, we have held our presentation assemblies to celebrate student achievement during the year. I would like to congratulate all students who have received awards. These awards recognise the effort and commitment students have displayed in classrooms, sporting and cultural events. It was a pleasure to welcome the NSW Minister of Education, Mr Adrian Piccoli, to our school last week. He was very impressed with our school and the work done in classrooms. His visit was requested so he could see first hand the work done with funding to our school through the Resource Allocation Model, RAM. This funding is a state wide process of funding students based on educational need. The RAM model of funding will be the standard funding procedure in NSW for all government schools. To our Year 6 students, I would like to say farewell and good luck in your future at high school and beyond. You have been a fine group of students throughout your time at Girraween P.S. You take with you the experiences, knowledge and skills developed through your work with teachers and parents over the last seven years of primary school. Your teachers and your parents are very proud of you. I know you all enjoyed the Year 6 graduation and had great fun at the Year 6 farewell. All the best to each and every one of you. There are a number of exciting activities planned for the end of our school year. I hope all students enjoy their time with teachers and friends. We will complete our classroom allocation and movement for next year over the coming week. Plans for our school programs will be finalised and the annual school report will be posted on our website by the end of the year. I would like thank everyone in our school community for their support and involvement in our school during the year. Special thanks go to our P&C executive, Ravi Velupillai, Narmada Srikrishna and Nimishay Pandya, P&C members and our uniform shop coordinator, Shanthy Thevarajah and volunteers. 5 INSTRUMENT SALE Mrs Galea has some instruments for sale. There are flutes, clarinets and trumpets. All the instruments are $100 each. First in, first served basis from 8.15am on Friday 12th December in the hall. There will also be a selection of tutor books for sale at $10 each.
