All qualifications are nationally recognised giving you the skills employers want. Help with your English and Maths If you need help with your English or Maths there are special courses to help you. You may also improve your English and Maths skills while you are studying another subject. This can be done by extra help in class or by going to a workshop. Support for those with learning difficulties If you have a learning difficulty such as dyslexia, are deaf, visually impaired or have a physical disability, we can help. English not your first language? If you think you will find it difficult to study in English, then we can offer you help. There are a range of English classes where you will be with other students who want help with learning English. We even run English tuition alongside your chosen programme of study. 3 ESOL Intensive On our ESOL Intensive courses you can improve your English language skills and gain a recognised qualification. You will take Cambridge ESOL examinations. You can study General English part-time during the day or evening, starting in September or January. The maximum class size is 20. The College of North West London The College is one of the largest Colleges of Further Education in London. It is a long-established centre for the teaching of English as a Foreign Language and attracts students from all over the world. As a state College of Further Education we employ highly qualified and experienced teachers, and offer you the opportunity to study a wide range of subjects, to meet other students and to take an active part in College life. The College is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English as a Foreign Language and is a member of English UK. The majority of students come to the College through personal recommendation. The College is situated across three centres in North West London. ESOL Intensive courses are held at the Kilburn Centre, which is within easy reach of the museums, galleries, theatres, parks and shops of central London. Kilburn, 10 minutes by underground from Baker Street, is a lively, cosmopolitan area, with excellent shopping and transport facilities. Mock examinations and public examinations take place in class time. Fees are not normally refundable. General English Courses What will I study? You develop and practise all the language skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing. You also work on your grammar and vocabulary. Some courses include computer assisted learning. You have a course tutor to help you and review your progress. You use course books and other materials. You are given regular homework and progress tests. You take an examination in January/June. What level of course is on offer? General English courses are at the following levels: pre-intermediate level intermediate level upper intermediate level advanced level What qualification would I receive? We prepare you for the following examinations: pre-intermediate level: Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life Entry 2 intermediate level: Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life Entry 3 upper intermediate level: Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life Level 1 advanced level: Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life Level 2 In June it is also possible to take Cambridge FCE/CAE at Levels 1 and 2 respectively. When can I study? 6 Writing Skills For students wishing to develop their writing for general and exam purposes. Available at two levels: Intermediate and Upper Intermediate. Days and Times: Monday and Thursday afternoons, from , or Examinations: Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life Writing Mode Entry 3/Level 1. We will give you an appointment to come for an assessment and interview to decide the best course for you. Assessments and interviews are generally held in July, September and January.
