Already here, you can notice Waymate s special approach: You don t have to switch back and forth between various websites in order to compare flights and trains all available travel routes are shown on one page in a direct comparison. At a glance, you can compare price, duration and availability and receive the most comprehensive information right away. The time slider can be dragged along the timeline to change departure or arrival time. If you want to set a price range, there s a similar price slider located at the top right hand corner of the page. As soon as time and place are set, users can choose from loads of different options. To help you make the right choice Waymate has come up with another new feature: Smileys calculate the Smiley-Factor for each available connection! Left of the different connections you ll now find either a beaming, a smiling, an indifferent or a frowning Smiley. To make it even clearer, the positive Smileys are green, the indifferent one is yellow and the frowning one is grey. We generate this rating through a combination of various data, including price, duration and number of changes. Other factors are, for instance, the time you ll need from your location to the airport. So altogether the Smiley is a great indicator of which offer is the best one. Waymate s Story One night, two friends were debating several questions: why do I have to visit so many websites to find modes of transport that get me from A to B? And why does the entire process take so much time to an irritating degree? Is there a way to make this easier, better, faster and a lot more fun? 5 Company Once we developed the concept for Waymate, one thing became apparent rather quickly: we would have to cooperate with different companies from different sectors. Not an easy task. Surprisingly enough, we were able to establish partnerships rather quickly. Our angel investors loved the idea and did not shy away from the complexities, which were deemed too difficult by other venture capitalists. We stayed focused, saved money wherever possible and were bootstrapping. Our small and capable team continued to work hard. Soon thereafter, we achieved a first important success: the European Commission chose us as the winner of the Smart Mobility Challenge Today we have made big steps towards our vision. We have created the clear and user-friendly online travel platform waymate.de, which makes travel planning a fun experience. With Waymate we take a huge step toward travelling digitally.
