In August 2014, Mexico s Congress finally approved the secondary laws that will throw the country s deep-water and shale fields open to foreign investment. Over the long term the reforms should help reverse nearly a decade long decline in oil & gas production and production. Estimates say Mexico will see a see a 2% GDP boost by 2025 due to the reform and also create 2 million jobs.
