1 Black River Falls High School List of Local Scholarships By completing the local scholarship application, students will be eligible for the following scholarships: To be eligible, students must attend the post-secondary school as a full-time student beginning the fall semester after they graduate from Black River Falls HS. Education: BRF Area Foundation Duane/Lavina Hoffman Scholarship ($1500) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, graduating in the top 50% of their class with preference given to a student majoring in education Alma & Henry Lind Scholarship ($785.00) Last year Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, graduating in the top 25% of their class and pursuing a degree in education. Student with financial need should have preference. BRF Area Foundation Philip/Aldena Meyer Memorial Scholarship ($1000) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, graduating in top 25% of class and majoring in a field of education, payment second year of post secondary school BRF Area Foundation Kelly Mauck Memorial Scholarship ($1500) **addt essay req.** Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, majoring in education and who has demonstrated good citizenship in school and the community. Student with financial need should have preference. Music/Art: Harold and Vi Olson Memorial Band Scholarship ($3000) **additional application** Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduation senior; student must have been an active participant in the high school band program (final applicants will be interviewed) Mary Perry Fine Arts Scholarship ($1000) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior; student must have been an active participant in the high school fine arts program (final applicants will be interviewed) Lidy Lunda Fine Arts Scholarship ($3000) ** additional application required ** Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, student must have been an active participant in the high school fine arts program (final applicants will be interviewed) Steven R. Cummings Memorial Scholarship ($500.00) **add. appl. required** Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior; student must have participated in high school music program and intends to pursue a post secondary degree in Music or Theatre Arts (final applicants will be interviewed)

Application required** Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, preference to a student majoring in natural resources or related field Athletics: BRF Foundation Thomas Robert Gilles Memorial Scholarship ($ ) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, voted either BRF male or female athlete of the year. Nursing: BRF Foundation Betsy Danielson Janssen Nursing Scholarship ($ ) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, accepted into a 2 or 4 year nursing program. Preference is given to an individual demonstrating need. College Specific: Lunda Charitable Trust /UW-Eau Claire Scholarship ($2500 X 2) Annual scholarships to two BRF HS graduating seniors or graduates, planning to attend UW-Eau Claire. Must rank in upper 25% of graduating class. (preference given for financial need would like (1) Business and (1) Education if available) Rhonda & Carl Holmquist/UW-Eau Claire Scholarship ($500.00) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, planning to attend UW-Eau Claire. Must rank in upper 25% of graduating class (preference given for financial need would like Business or Education field if everything else is equal) Lunda/Marquette School of Engineering Scholarship ($15000) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS or Melrose-Mindoro HS or Lincoln HS (Alma Center) graduating senior, accepted to the Marquette School of Engineering UW-LaCrosse Eugene & Arleen O Brien Scholarship ($800) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior accepted to UW-LaCrosse, student must rank in the top 20%of their graduating class Dale s Refrigeration and Heating ($100) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior accepted to Western Technical College or Chippewa Valley Technical College in the HVAC or Appliance repair program.
3 Human Relations: BRF Area Foundation Don Halverson Memorial Scholarship ($1500) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior who has participated in hs in at least one sport for four years, majoring in a human relations field (essay required) Specific Location: Sechlerville Cemetery Scholarship ($ ) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior residing in village of Hixton, Town of Albion, and/or townships of Springfield, Curran, or Hixton. Selection will be based on academic performance, financial need, and leadership in school and community activities. May not be presented to valedictorian or salutatorian. (2 or 4 yr college) WPPI/BRF Municipal Utilities ($ ) X 2 students Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior residing in city limits and parents are members of the BRF Municipal Utilities. Selection will be based on academic performance and financial need. General: BRF Tiger Investment Club Scholarship (variable X 2) Annual scholarship to two BRF HS graduating seniors. Students must be an active member of Tiger Investment Club and have/held an officer position in the organization. Coop Credit Union Scholarship ($1200) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior. Student or student s parent/guardian must be an active member of CCU. Extra curricular and community service are criteria for selection. Student may not receive more than $ in other scholarships to be eligible for this award. Louie Gardipee Memorial Lions Scholarship ($ X 2) Annual scholarship to (1) BRF HS female and (1) BRF HS male graduating senior. Honesty, Industriousness, Attitude, and Citizenship are criteria for selection. Federation Cooperative Scholarship ($ ) (Selected by Fed. Coop) Annual scholarship to one BRF HS graduating senior. Student s parent/guardian must be an active member of the Fed Coop. Must maintain a 2.5 gpa in first semester of college to receive monies. 4 Jackson Electric Coop Scholarship ($750) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, student s parent/guardian must be an active member of Jackson Electric Coop Lunda Charitable Fund, Inc. Senior Scholarship (2 X $ ) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior attending a 4-year college. Students must have earned a 3.0 cumulative gpa or higher, be involved in extra-curricular activities, and demonstrate service to school and community. Masonic Lodge #74 Scholarship (2 X $500.00) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior attending a 4-year college or 2-year technical college. Preference is given to student who demonstrates honesty, industriousness, attitude, and citizenship. BRF Area Foundation Lions and Rotary Scholarship ($1000) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, graduating in the top 50% of their class with preference given to student involved in extra curricular activities and leadership roles. BRF Area Foundation Ralph/Alice Lund Memorial Scholarship ($750) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior attending a four year college/university, payment second year of post secondary school Nelson Foundation Community Scholarship ($ ) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, amount of award can be divided among more than one student but no award less than $500 Charles Sechler Fund Scholarship (variable approx. $285.00) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, demonstrating high level of need. Student should have made significant contribution to their school/community. Can divide scholarship for two recipients if needed. Rosin Scholarship ($300.00) **additional application required** Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior, with preference given to a student who plans to participate in athletics at the collegiate level Wisconsin Covenant Scholars ($250.00) **separate application required** Annual scholarship to any BRF HS graduating senior who has signed the Covenant pledge prior to their freshmen year in high school. Participants agree to earn a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA over 4 years in high school as well as complete 20 hours of community service.

Selection made by Fire Chief and EMT Coordinator. BRF Area Foundation Lt. Terry L. Preston Memorial Scholarship ($1000) Annual scholarship to a BRF HS graduating senior majoring in Police Science or Criminal Justice (award to senior at A.C.
