Priority shall be given to Covington High School graduates enrolled in a public or private college or university accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in pursuit of a degree in medicine or nursing. Awards may be granted for multiple years including graduate degrees in nursing or medicine. Richard Ashton Scholarship, Inc. March 5, Return completed application to high school guidance office. Resident of Fountain County or Mound Township (Warren County) for 12 months prior to date of application, top 50% of Covington High School graduating class, accepted as full-time student at a public or private college, university or vocational school accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Awards may be granted for one to four years of undergraduate study leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree. Applicant must submit a request for continuation of the scholarship annually. Progress and performance of applicant is subject to review by the awards committee. Robert L. Buser Service and Leadership Award, Inc. Selection will include, but not limited to, student service and leadership to Covington High School. Only one award is issued annually. (not renewable)

Applicants must reside in Fulton or Mill Creek Townships in Fountain County and are pursuing a college education at a four-year college, junior college or technical school. Awards may be granted for multiple years (reapplying is necessary on a yearly basis). Hoffman Trojan Scholars, Inc. March 5, Return completed application to guidance office at high school. Awards shall be made to eligible Covington High School graduates. The scholarship awards are limited to one to four years of undergraduate study leading to a baccalaureate degree at any public or private college or university accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In order to retain eligibility, the progress and performance of recipients receiving multiple year awards shall be subject to annual review. Application Available: Award: 1-2 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Western Indiana Community Foundation, Inc. January 6, Return completed application to guidance office at your high school. Letters of recommendation should be forwarded to Western Indiana Community Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 175, Covington, IN by January 6 th. Western Indiana Scholarship Committee Applications are distributed at a informational convocation for Attica, Covington and Fountain Central seniors in November 2009 or may be obtained at Western Indiana Community Foundation or guidance counselor s office. Two scholarships for Fountain County for full tuition plus required fees and books for 4 years at an Indiana college or university accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Must have been a resident of Fountain County or Mound Township, Warren County for 12 months prior to date of application, have graduated by the end of June 2010 with a diploma from an accredited Indiana high school, intend to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study beginning in the fall of 2010 at an accredited public or private 4-year college or university in Indiana, have never previously been enrolled in a post-secondary degree-granting program. Selection is based on academic performance, school activities, personal & community activities, creativity, financial need, work history, and a personal interview.

3 Steel Grip Scholarship, Inc. Applicant must be a graduate of Covington High School or Fountain Central High School (scholarship awarded at both schools). Priority given to applicants that are a relative of a current Steel Grip employee (spouse, child or grandchild). Applicant must be a full-time student at a 4- year accredited college or university pursuing a baccalaureate degree. This scholarship is awarded for seven (7) semesters if the applicant maintains a C and reports status and progress to the Covington Community Foundation, Inc. on a yearly basis. Rick Williams Memorial Scholarship, Inc. Applicant must reside in Fountain or Warren County for 12 months prior to date of application and be a current graduate of an accredited area high school. Priority given to applicants whose parents or grandparents are employees of Old National Bank and Trust in Fountain or Warren counties. Applicant is accepted as a full-time student at an accredited college, university or vocational school. Scholarships may be granted for multiple years upon re-application and academic performance. Award: 1-3 CCF Book Reimbursement Program or within 30 days after completion of the school semester for which the first stipend will be awarded. Applicant must be a graduate of Covington High School (program started with the Class of 2000) and be pursuing a college education at a four-year college, junior college or technical school. Reimbursement of book and equipment expenses. Must maintain 2.0 GPA or higher. Any student pursing a degree at an Indiana college or technical school is eligible. There are three award levels. For those pursuing a two-year degree, the award is $200/semester for three semesters. For those pursing a 4-year degree, the award is $400 per year for three years. For the final 12 Lilly Scholarship finalists from CHS, the award is $600 per year for four years.

4 Award: Fountain County Instructional Materials Assistance Covington Citizens Scholarship Committee Applicant must have resided in Southeast Fountain and/or Covington school districts, have graduated from Southeast Fountain or Covington High School, be enrolled in a higher education school and must maintain an average or above average academic standing in post-secondary education. A recipient is eligible to receive scholarships for financial assistance for four (4) consecutive years of higher education if all other requirements are met. Reimbursement of book and equipment expenses. Don and Georgeanna Ford Volleyball Scholarship Covington Citizens Scholarship Committee Applicant must be a graduate of Covington High School and be a member of the Covington High School Volleyball Tem and has earned a varsity letter. Financial need is a priority. Applicants must also be accepted as full-time student at a public or private college, university or vocational school accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Award is for one year. A written request for renewal of the scholarship along with proof of academic performance can be submitted. Renewal is based on available funds and the progress and academic performance of the applicant. Judith Woodrow Scholarship Covington Citizens Scholarship Committee Applicant must be a graduate of Covington High School, a member of the Covington United Methodist Church and pursuing a degree in teacher education. Applicants must also have a 2.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale, accepted as full-time student at a public or private college, university or vocational school accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Award is for one year with the option to reapply. A written request for continuation of the scholarship along with proof of academic performance is needed annually. Progress and performance of applicant is subject to review by the awards committee. 1-4

5 MasterGuard Community Scholarship Southeast Fountain Community Foundation MasterGuard Grants Committee Applicant must reside in the Attica, Covington or Southeast Fountain school districts and is pursuing a college education at a four-year college, junior college, or technical school for Automotive Vocational and/or Mechanical Engineering Dr. Malcolm C. Spencer M.D. Scholarship Southeast Fountain Community Foundation March 5, Return application to guidance office Southeast Fountain Community Foundation Scholarship Committee The applicants must be a resident within the Southeast Fountain School Corporation or the Covington School Corporation for 12 months prior to the application date. One graduate from each school is to receive a scholarship award. The applicants must be accepted as a full-time student at an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in medicine (medical doctor) or nursing, have a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale), and exhibit financial need. Award is for one year of with the option to reapply. Renewal is based on the progress and academic performance of the applicant. The award and renewal can be for multiple years in order to support the student at any/all grade levels, including graduate degrees in medicine and nursing. Reagan & Hazel Mallett Memorial Scholarship Applicant must reside in Fountain or Warren County for 12 months prior to date of application and be a current graduate of an accredited area high school. The scholarship award is to be given to an applicant majoring in agriculture business operations or agriculture economics for students who will learn the business and economic principles behind running agricultural related businesses. Applicant must be accepted as a full-time student at any four-year accredited college or university. Scholarships may be granted for up to four consecutive years upon reapplication & academic performance. Priority is given to previous recipients. Must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA. 1-5

6 Helen VanDorn Shelby Covington Citizen s Scholarship Committee Applicant must be a graduate of Covington High School and live in the Covington district for the prior year, have a 2.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale, accepted as full-time student at a public or private college, university or vocational school accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Award is for one year. 1-6

Open to graduates of Covington High School. Fountain County Drug Free Scholarship Fountain County Prosecutor s Office March 30 th Applicant must be in the upper 50% of their class. F.F.A. Scholarship F.F.A. Covington Guidance office at Covington High School March 30 th Applicant must major in agriculture for at least two years in F.F.A. Fountain County Homemakers Scholarship Fountain County Homemakers Indiana Sheriff s Scholarship Indiana Sheriff s Association Guidance office at Covington High School March 30 th Applicant must major in law enforcement, be a member of the Indiana Sheriff s Association and attend an Indiana college or university. Fountain County Beef Producers Scholarship Fountain County Beef Producers Guidance office at Covington High School March 5, Applicant must have shown beef cattle at Fountain County 4-H Fair in current year. 1-7

Tri Kappa Scholarship Committee Applicant must be a Fountain County graduate seeking a career in the medical field. Priority will be given to college level upperclassmen enrolled or enrolling in medical school. Covington Teachers Scholarship Covington Teachers Association March 5, 2010 Return completed application to guidance office at Covington High School. Officers of Covington Teachers Association Pursuit of a major in education resulting in a teaching license. 1-9

10 OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS The following is a brief listing of some scholarships that do not have local sponsorship. These do require separate applications from sources other than the Community Foundation. Check with your guidance counselor, the websites listed, and with the colleges or universities of your choice to see if others are available. State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI) Indiana Higher Education Grant This grant includes the Higher Education Award and Freedom of Choice Award Targeted to tuition and regularly accessed fees Need-based and does not require repayment Awarded for 8 semesters Must be used within 10 years of when award is used the first time Appropriation based on FAFSA information Hoosier Scholar Award Award of $500 Non-renewable, dispersed in the first semester of freshman year Nominated by high school guidance staff number dependent on high school size Use toward any educational expenses Top 20% of graduating class Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Minimum SAT of 1300 or ACT of 31 Full-time student Does not have to stay in Indiana Maximum award of $1500 renewable for 3 years Applications sent by SSACI Twenty First Century Scholars Scholarship Need-based Enroll in 7 th or 8 th grade Affirmation pledge complete in 12 th grade Must graduate with a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale Must be activated within 2 years of high school graduation Guarantees 100% tuition and regular fees at public institutions for up to 30 credit hours Can be applied toward a private institution Does not pay for summer school There are also special state scholarship programs for nursing students, minority teaching students, children of veterans and public servants, and students in the National Guard. Information about these and all of the above scholarships can be found at Colleges and Universities have websites now. When reviewing which college to attend, search their websites for scholarships. There are many scholarships which colleges and universities offer to those attending their campus. 1-10
