1 COMMON SCHOLARSHIP LIST 1. ANTHONY KENNETH DINOLFO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Given to a senior who is planning to attend a four-year college or university to major in the computer sciences. Must have taken high school band, including participation in the Marching Jays Band, with preference given to brass instrumentalists. Grade point average of at least 3.5 over high school career, with academic excellence shown in advanced placement or honors classes over the four years. 2. ARTHUR AND LEOTA BUSCH SCHOLARSHIP FUND AMOUNT: $6,000 ELIGIBILITY: Three (3) eligible seniors with a desire to attend a college or university of their choice. Four (4) eligible seniors who intend to study horticulture or related fields at the University of Missouri. Payment will be made in two installments of $3, in August and December. 3. BELAIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTA SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: The scholarship will be awarded to a senior who attended Belair Elementary School for one year or more, including their 5th grade year. Applicants must submit a one-page essay about a memorable event, teacher or staff member from their years at Belair. Recipient will be required to be present at the Belair Elementary School 5th Grade Graduation at the end of school, where a short presentation will be made. Award will be made primarily based on the essay, however financial need and academic record may also be considered. 4. BETTY HOLT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500 per semester is renewable and may be greater in following years) ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior planning to go into nursing. The recipient will be recognized for their accomplishments and contributions he/she has made in her school and community. Must show financial need and have at least a 2.5 GPA. 5. BLANCH ANDERS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $1000 ELIGIBILITY: Given to two seniors one male and one female who will pursue an education in the medical field. 6. BRENNA R. SIEBERT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $750 / $1,500 ($375 per semester, renewable 2nd year with GPA of 3.0 or higher) ELIGIBILITY: To encourage others to pursue a vocation working with and helping animals, to always try to see the beauty in life, and never stop trying to reach those goals, her parents have established a scholarship, which will be awarded annually to a senior student who desires to enter college to pursue a degree in Veterinary Medicine. 7. BRENT WARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Seniors who plan to attend a college/university. Preference will be given to a senior who was involved in athletics and plans to major in History/Social Studies.

CALLAWAY HILLS ELEMENTARY PTO SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Scholarship will be awarded to a student who attended Callaway Hills for one year or more, planning to pursue a post-secondary education degree. Applicant must submit a one-page essay about a special memory, a teacher, an event, or a lesson learned from their year(s) at Callaway Hills. Award will be made primarily based on the essay, however financial need and academic record may also be considered. Please request essay guidelines from the Guidance Office. 9. CARL BURKEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a senior planning to enter college and pursue studies in music. Student s studies should lead to a degree in music education or a music degree with a performance concentration. Decision will be based on student s academic achievement, the student s aptitude and achievement in music, the contribution made to the program of the school as well as good character, personality, and appearance. 10. CARROLL AND ELIZABETH CLITHERO SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $1000 ($500 per semester) ELIGIBILITY: Recipient must be the child of a teacher in the Jefferson City school system. A transcript must accompany the application. 11. THE CASEY LUEBBERT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Be a high school wrestling team member for at least 1 year, a graduating senior or possess a GED certificate, plan to enroll as a full-time student in an accredited Junior College or University or Vo-Tech school in a program of study leading to an BA or BS Degree, and show evidence of academic progress for renewal for 2nd semester. 12. CHAPTER JB OF THE P.E.O. SISTERHOOD SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a college or technical school bound senior girl from Jefferson City High School, Helias Catholic High School or Calvary Lutheran High School. The student must have at least a 2.0 GPA to be considered. In addition to the materials required for the common scholarship, applicant must include: (1) A signed letter of reference from someone (not a relative) who can testify to your integrity and character. This can be a high school teacher or administrator, present or past employer, minister, church member or another adult from the community. (2) An essay of no more than 250 words responding to ONE of the two prompts: Describe yourself in a way that will help us know you better, i.e. family background, likes, dislikes, basic values. Or who or what influenced your decision to pursue the career path you have chosen? NOTE: Applicant must include all the materials listed above to be considered. 13. CHARLES W ROOTES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $2,000 ELIGIBILITY: Students that excel in English and plan to study education English, Literature or a related field in college. Financial need will be considered.

CHRIS STEPPELMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHP ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who attended Moreau Heights Elementary School and is enrolled in a post secondary educational institution majoring in education. The recipient will be recognized for their accomplishments and contributions he/she has made in her school and community. 15. CHRISHA L. SIEBERT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $750 / $1,500 ($375 per semester, renewable 2nd year with GPA of 3.3 or higher) ELIGIBILITY: Scholarship designed to encourage others to pursue a vocation in the arts, to always see the beauty in life, to always strive to do their best, and never stop learning. Scholarship will be given to a senior who is in the top 10% of his/her graduation class who has excelled in art, design, or who has made a significant contribution to the art/design program at JCHS. 16. COLE COUNTY MEDICAL ALLIANCE (Two scholarships will be awarded to Cole County Seniors) ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be high school seniors planning to attend a 4 year college or university to pursue a career in healthcare. 17. CORLISS JONES AND THELMA JONES TRUST THEOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP: ($500 per semester and renewable for seven semesters with required GPA) ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving graduating senior who will be pursing a degree in Theology. Amount of financial need must exceed scholarship award. 18. CORLISS JONES AND THELMA JONES TRUST MEDICINE SCHOLARSHIP: ($500 per semester and renewable for seven semesters with required GPA) ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving graduating senior who will be pursuing a degree in Medicine. Amount of financial need must exceed scholarship award. 19. CORLISS JONES AND THELMA JONES TRUST JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP: ($500 per semester and renewable for seven semesters with required GPA) ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving graduating senior who will be enrolling in the University of Missouri - Columbia pursuing a degree in Journalism. Amount of financial need must exceed scholarship award. 20. CORLISS JONES AND THELMA JONES TRUST OMNIBUS SCHOLARSHIP: ($250 per semester and renewable for seven semesters with required GPA) ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a male or female student who has distinguished himself or herself in athletics while attending Jefferson City High School and plans to attend the University of Missouri - Columbia. Amount of financial need must exceed scholarship award. 21. CRAIG HENDRICKSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: Varies ELIGIBILITY: Seniors who have or have been diagnosed with cancer. It may also be if someone in your immediate family has battled cancer. Please attach an essay describing how you and/or family members have dealt with the situation.
4 22. JC / MNEA SCHOLARSHIP (2 given) ELIGIBILITY: Must have a B average, plan to enter a field of teaching, financial aid may be considered. 23. JC / MSTA SCHOLARSHIP (2 given) ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible, a student must pursue an education (teaching-related) degree; have above average grades in high school, financial need considered. 24. DONALD L & VIRGINIA CAMPBELL SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who is actively pursuing a bachelor s degree in business or finance. 25. ELMER P.L. JR. AND CAROLINE BUSHMAN OTT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Awarded to a student who plans to earn a Baccalaureate degree, shows financial need, has a good academic record, has acceptable college aptitude test scores, has displayed good participation in school activities and displays good moral character. 26. ENTREPRENEUR SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: Amount varies ELIGIBILITY: The Entrepreneurship scholarship will be awarded to a student who has successfully completed the Entrepreneurship B class in the business education department and will pursue a postsecondary business major. 27. FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 671 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($250 per semester) ELIGIBILITY: Award will be made to a graduating senior who plans to enter college with career plans in public safety, such as Firefighting, Highway Patrol, Emergency Medical Service, or Law Enforcement, etc. 28. GENE KIRKHAM INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP ($250 per semester of freshman year) ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is to recognize Mr. Kirkham's commitment to music education and his desire to see students enter the profession. The Gene Kirkham music scholarship will be awarded to a senior band student who will pursue a program in music education at the college or university level. Applicants are to include a personal statement and a recommendation from a teacher, counselor or administrator. The Director of Bands and the Assistant Directors will serve as the review and selection committee. 29. HELEN JEWELL CEDERBURG BRAKKE BUEL SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Award will be based on financial need, participation in school activities, academic record and college aptitude scores.
5 30. THE HERSCHEL S. FRESHOUR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Awarded to a senior planning to pursue a 4-year college or university degree. Selection based on academic record, leadership qualities, participation in school activities and aptitude for chosen program of study. 31. J. PATRICK HEALEY SCHOLARSHIP (JC CANTORUM) NOTE: Applicant must include all the materials listed below or the application will not be considered. ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is awarded in recognition of Mr. Healey s contribution to the Jefferson City community through his 38 years as director of the Jefferson City Cantorum community choir. The scholarship will be awarded to a senior student who has shown an exceptional interest in choral music by actively participating in the choral music program and who plans to attend college in the fall, regardless of his/her intended major. In addition to the materials required for the common scholarship, applicant must include: (1) A brief written personal statement about the importance of singing in his/her life. (2) A brief resume highlighting his/her musical career, including musical instruction, activities, and performances. (3) A brief recommendation from a choral director familiar with his/her work as a member of a chorus. 32. JAY BOB ESTES ART SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Awarded to a senior art student who has excelled in art or who has made a significant contribution to the art program at Jefferson City High School. 33. JEFFERSON CITY ALUMNAE CHAPTER OF DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY INC. ELIGIBILITY: This award will be given to an African-American student with a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicant must attach an official high school transcript and two letters of recommendation. One of which should be written by a present or former academic teacher. 34. JEFFERSON CITY BREAKFAST ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP (GPA of 2.8 or higher) ELIGIBILITY: Selection is based primarily upon academic achievement. Community service, financial need and student involvement will be considered. Preference may also be given upon showing of international interests. Scholarship is limited to those planning to enroll in an educational institution in Missouri. Children and family members of Jefferson City Breakfast Rotary Club members shall be ineligible. 35. JEFFERSON CITY EVENING LIONS CLUB AMOUNT: $750 ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must be a graduating senior. They must attend an accredited Missouri college, university or technical school. The applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale and have financial need. They should show leadership skills and good moral character. 36. JEFFERSON CITY HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (1 given) ($500 per semester) ELIGIBILITY: Must rank in the upper 1/4 of class and receive no other scholarship.
6 37. JEFFERSON CITY HIGH SCHOOL PTO (multiple scholarships available) ELIGIBILITY: Awarded to a graduating senior who desires to attend a technical school, community college, or four year college. Awards are based on financial need, school/community activities, work related experience, citizenship and academic performance. Financial need will be strongly considered, and students who are eligible for any other type of financial assistance may be given priority. (one scholarship available) ELIGIBILITY: Awarded to a graduating senior from JCAC who desires to attend a technical school, community college, or four year college. JEFFERSON CITY MEDICAL GROUP SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a senior who is actively pursuing pre-med or prenursing. 39. JEFFERSON CITY ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP to LINCOLN UNIVERSITY AMOUNT: $1,500 (nonrenewable) ELIGIBILITY: Awarded to graduating senior who has been accepted for admission to Lincoln. 40. JEFFERSON CITY ROTARY CLUB WEST SCHOLARSHIP (nonrenewable) ELIGIBILITY: Awarded to a graduating senior who has been accepted for admission to Lincoln University and who has financial need as well as a GPA and class rank that indicates potential for success at the college level. 41. JCHS NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Must be a National Honor Society member in good standing. Selection will be based on service the student has given to the JCHS National Honor Society for the past three years. Financial need will be considered. 42. JEFFERSON LODGE #43 AF & AM SCHOLARSHIP ($500 per semester) ELIGIBILITY: Student must rank in upper 50 percent of class, show involvement in church and community activities, enroll full time in an in-state public 4-year college. A transcript must accompany the application.

MUIR SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $600 ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is to be awarded to a male student, based on financial need, participation in school activities, academic record and college aptitude scores. 44. JERRY BLACKWELL ART CLUB SCHOLARSHIP: ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a student who excels as an active member of the Jefferson City High School Art Club, who participates in extracurricular activities that make use of his or her art abilities, who has shown interest in an art related career and who intends to enroll in an establishment of higher education to continue his/her studies in that particular art related area. 45. J. BLACKWELL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $400 (2 will be awarded) ELIGIBILITY: To be awarded to two seniors who will pursue a degree in nursing and plan to attend a college/university or community college. 46. JIM GOLDAMMER SCHOLARSHIP AWARD ELIGIBILITY: Must be in top 1/3 of class, exhibit great financial need and desire to continue education. Must have applied to a college or vocational school. 47. JOE AND RUTH NICHOLS SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $5,000 ($2,500 per year for two years) ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is to be awarded to a graduating senior who has a commitment to becoming an educator. The student must show academic excellence as well as leadership and service in the life of the school and the community. Must be enrolled in college and must maintain a 2.5 GPA. 48. THE JUDY K. KRAUS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500 per semester for freshman year) ELIGIBILITY: Must rank in upper 1/3 of class and have an ACT score of 21 or higher. Priority will be given first to a student majoring in math education, second to math or engineering majors, and third to one majoring in education in general. Financial need will be considered. 49. KWOS BROADCASTERS SCHOLARSHIP (second semester freshman year) ELIGIBILITY: Selection based upon outstanding classroom effort and demonstration of excellence in high school athletics. Students will need to provide a copy of their first semester transcript to the Director of Secondary Education. 50. KYLE BILLINGTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (2 GIVEN One Male and One Female) ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is to be awarded to a Male and a Female student that has participated throughout High School in Cross Country. The student must have a good academic record, possess excellent citizenship qualities, and show financial need.
8 51. MARK AND NANCY VIETS/ JC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $2,500 to be awarded to two seniors. ELIGIBILITY: Student(s) who have among the highest grade point averages at the time of the annual Common Scholarship Luncheon (term 3 grades + review of current grades. Financial need and significant motivation (rigor of schedule, planned course of study in college, selectivity of institution attending, etc.) will be considered. If circumstances warrant, a single award could be given. 52. MARY JANE HOLLIWAY-SILLS JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $3,000 (two given) 1st yr. $1000, 2nd yr. $500, 3rd yr., $1000, 4th yr. $500. ELIGIBILITY: Must enroll at UM-C and pursue Journalism Degree. Based on academic achievement, qualifications and desire to enter the field of journalism, as well as aptitude for this career. 53. MICHAEL T. COON COMPUTER SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP: ($250 per semester) ELIGIBILITY: Must be a graduating senior with a 3.5 or above GPA, majoring in Computer Science or Computer Information. 54. MILDRED HAMMOND MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP for NURSING AMOUNT: $1,200 ($600 per semester) ELIGIBILITY: Selection based on academic achievement, financial need and student s qualifications and desire to enter nursing field. Preference is given to one entering a Registered Nursing Program. 55. PAULINE AND ELMER OTT, SR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500 per semester for 1 year) (two scholarships will be awarded) ELIGIBILITY: Awarded to a student planning to pursue a Baccalaureate Degree. Criteria considered are financial need, academic record, college aptitude test scores, and participation in school activities. 56. PETE ADKINS SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: Up to $4,000 over 4 years ($500 per semester) ELIGIBILITY: Awarded to a senior that has been a member of the Jefferson City Jays varsity football team during their senior year and ideally for multiple seasons prior. This individual must submit a Pete Adkins Scholarship Application (extras are in the Athletic Office) and plan to attend a University, College or Technical/Trade School after graduation. The Scholarship Selection Committee will evaluate all candidates based on their application, own words and feedback from teammates and coaches. The Pete Adkins Scholarship finalist will be determined not solely on their academic or athletic achievement, but rather by the strength of their character, perseverance through adversity, and ultimately, their leadership through Jay Pride. 57. RICHARD J. WILSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500 per semester) ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who will attend Lincoln University and plans to major in business or finance. A good academic record is important, however, applying ones talents and achieving to the best of their ability should carry more weight. Other factors such as financial need, character and determination to succeed and in and out of school activities should be given equal, if not greater consideration.
9 58. RICHARD R. PEMBERTON SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a student who exceeds academically and in school activities. Preference is given to those pursing a degree in Secondary or Vocational Education. Financial need will be considered. 59. THE ROBERT L. KOHEN SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Awarded to a senior student based on financial need and a desire to complete a postsecondary education. Consideration may be given to school and community service, potential for success in a post-secondary program and a positive, healthy lifestyle. 60. RUTH MORSE WILSON SCHOLARSHIP ($250 per semester. This is a one-year award, nonrenewable) ELIGIBILITY: the scholarship is to be awarded to a graduating senior who has shown an exceptional interest in creative writing. Class rank, GPA, and participation in school activities including the publication of written work will be considered. The applications will be reviewed and recommendation for award made by representatives of the English and guidance department. 61. RUTH PERREY GRIFFIN MEMORIAL AMOUNT: $2,000 ($1,000 per semester 2 will be awarded) ELIGIBILITY: Preference will be given to a student who has demonstrated that he or she is motivated to learn and has a strong desire to complete a 4-year degree program. Financial need considered, especially those ineligible for other forms of assistance. 62. SHOW-ME SHOWBOATERS MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Jefferson City Show-Me Showboaters Barbershop Chorus) Eligibility: This scholarship will be awarded to a senior male student who has actively participated in the choral music program at Jefferson City High School and will continue to sing in some type of formal choral group in college, regardless of his intended major. In additional to the materials required for the common scholarship, applicant must include: 1) A brief written statement about how singing has had a positive impact on his life; 2) A brief resume highlighting his musical "career", including musical instruction, activities, and performances; 3) A statement on the role that vocal performance will play during his college education; and 4) A brief recommendation from a choral director familiar with his work as a member of a chorus. The successful applicant will also submit a short report on their first semester college singing experience by January 15, 2014 to the Show-Me Showboaters President, Stephen Price. Preference will be given to applicants who are members of the Show-Me Showboaters Barbershop chorus and/or to immediate relatives of Showboaters members. STEIN-BAER MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $800 ($400 per semester) ELIGIBILITY: Must excel in some phase of music-vocal, instrumental, dance, etc. and plan to continue education in the fine arts or music. 64. VIRGINIA and LEE MADDOX MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Student must have plans to pursue a B.S. in Elementary Education with a 3.0 or better GPA in the first 7 semesters of high school. Must also plan on attending University of Missouri- Columbia. 65. WEST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTA SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY: Scholarship will be awarded to a student who attended West Elementary School for one year or more, planning to pursue a post secondary education. Applicants must submit a one-page essay about a special memory, a teacher, an event, or a lesson learned from their year(s) at West School. Award will be made solely on the essay. No information that might identify the applicant may be included in the essay. The recipient will be requested to attend the West School Fifth Grade Award Assembly at the end of the school year and share his/her essay. 66. WILLIAM W. QUIGG SCHOLARSHIP TRUST ELIGIBILITY: To be awarded to a senior who has met entrance requirements for an accredited college or university, has an academic ranking in upper one-half of graduating class. Applicant must demonstrate outstanding leadership skills, actively participated in school activities, and possess good citizenship qualities and be of high moral character. The principals or their designees will select a graduating senior who best meets the criteria. 67. WILLIE MAE SAVILLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP to UNIV. of MISSOURI - COLUMBIA ($500 per semester) ELIGIBILITY: Must attend the University of Missouri-Columbia. Selection is based upon the number of English credits and grades earned in high school. Must also have a proficient or advanced score on the EOC tests. 68. ZONTA ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating female. The recipient will be recognized for their accomplishments and contributions she has made in her school and community. She must have been accepted for the upcoming academic year to a university, college or technical school. Also please attach a letter stating the reason for your need of the $1,000 scholarship and also state what your goals are.
