5 Logging on to K.U.Leuven In order to access ICT services, you need to log onto the network using the Central K.U.Leuven Login.

6 Inloggen aan de K.U.Leuven Each student has an intranet userid for using the informatics services at the university You r-number is eg. r This number is on the back of the student card Activate your userid on Log on with your intranet userid and the activation code found on the scratch card

7 Password Do not use a trivial password Your password is 8 characters at least 1 number at least 1 captial at least 1 small character Change it in order to get access to the ICT-services

8 Password Treat your password the same way like the pin code of your mobile, bancontact, credit card: DO NOT PASS IT ON! Passing on your password means: other people can access KotNet and you are not able to other people can read your mail other people can change your account settings other people can access Toledo under your account and take tests other people can send mails as you

31 Anti-virus Be careful on the internet! McAfee Virusscan can be downloaded for free via our campus wide license! If your computer is infected with a virus, your KotNet connection can be blocked.

32 Spam K.U.Leuven-mails are automatically scanned for spam characteristics. Spam gets the tag [SPAM?] inserted into the subject. These mails will be put into your Junk Mail folder.
