2 Welcome to Bergen! We are pleased to invite you to the third Bergen Shipping Executive Conference (BSEC). The two previous events have each gathered over 200 shipping executives from all over the world. BSEC 2009 will take place on 25 March. BSEC will continue the challenging task of highlighting highly relevant topics and trends for the shipping industry. Key topics will be: A totally new landscape emerging - making sense of global trends In times of a shifting landscape - consequence for shipping Survival of the fittest - what does it take? This conference is designed for shipping executives from listed and private companies as well as for shipping investors, entrepreneurs, ship managers, bankers, insurance executives and other senior advisors to the shipping and offshore industries. Representatives from companies within all sectors of shipping will have an interest in attending, due to the fact that the subjects chosen apply across the global shipping industry. The invitation should be considered as personal. If you are not able to participate, another senior executive in your organisation may attend in your place. Bergen, with its extensive maritime tradition and position as a hub for industrial shipping, is providing a natural venue for a shipping conference of this kind. He is head of BOFIT, a Bank of Finland research unit specializing on Russia and China, since Geir Skoglund came to the Norwegian Hull Club 10 years ago to establish and run the club s Loss Prevention Program. Today these activities are established in the market and have become popular, beneficial and useful to the clubs members and clients. Herbjørn Hansson is the founder and has been Chairman and CEO of the Company since its establishment in He is a member of various governing bodies of companies within shipping, insurance, banking, manufacturing, shipping agencies and indemnity associations. Keith Denholm Denholm was appointed Commercial Director of Pacific Carriers Ltd in He is also Commercial Director of Malaysian Bulk Carriers, Director of Tailwind Shipping, Singapore and member of Norwegian Hull Club Committee. Sir Mark Tully has 22 years experience as BBC Correspondent in Delhi. He retired in 1994, but continued to live in Delhi as a Free Lancer Journalist and Broadcaster. He has written 6 Books on India and has been awarded by Government of India and Knighthood by British Government. Dr. Martin Stopford has 35 years of experience from the Maritime Industry and is currently Managing Director of Clarkson Research Services Limited (CRSL) and an executive director of Clarksons PLC. Jacques Michaux joined the European Commission in He has a special responsibility for External Maritime Affairs. He is involved in the development and implementation of the new EU maritime transport strategy up to Kristin Holth Executive Vice President and heading up DnB NOR America. Holth is a member of several boards in the US related to financial services and Norwegian-American business. Thor Jørgen Guttormsen Thor Jørgen Guttormsen has held various positions within the Höegh group since He has been president for Leif Höegh & Co AS since 1992 and Leif Höegh & Co Limited since Hans Geelmuyden Hans Geelmuyden is partner and leading senior advisor at Geelmuyden.Kiese. Since 1989 Geelmuyden has contributed as an advisor to large power -and modification processes both in public and private sector. Thomas Henschien Thomas Henschien is a former news anchorman and foreign news reporter from TV2, the largest commercial TV network in Norway. Since 2006 he has been managing editor and key in the development of the TV2 News Channel. Arne Hjeltnes is the CEO of the Scandinavian communication agency Creuna. Before this he was Communication Director in Marine Harvest ASA, Director of tourism for Norway in the Americas and Director for South East Asia for Innovation Norway based in Hong Kong. Mauro Oliveira Dias has held various positions since he joined Login Logistica (formerly Navegacão Vale) in He has been CEO of the company since Also held position as President of Association of Brazilian railroads Ole Torp is the Asia Correspondent of Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), based in Beijing. As a foreign news reporter he has travelled and reported on a wide range of topics, especially in the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
