Please be informed that all guided program is as you might suppose meant to be guided in German language, we will not provide multi-language tours as this does not meet our idea of comfortable travel. But if there are enough people, either in your party or together with other interested persons, we can organize guiding in any other language. For the time of the championships our team in Tampere will be able to assist you in English and German language. Not all information of our German brochure are translated to English language, so if you have certain questions for more details please feel free to contact us. Best regards, Jörg Scharff Managing director General information Time and Place The 18th Table Tennis World Veterans Championships (WVC) will take place from May 23rd until May 29th, in the halls of the IFA (Institución Ferial Alicantina) next to Alicante, Spain. All the halls are connected with each other. Preliminary Tournament Timetable Sat., & Sun., Accreditation, training, opening ceremony on Sunday evening (19 o clock) Mon., & Tue., Group qualification matches (Monday morning still possibility for accreditation) Wed., Rest day (Training in the halls possible) Thu., & Fri., Main- and consolation games Friday evening: Gala dinner (from the federation) Sat., Semifinals & finals of double and consolation matches, price giving Sun., Semifinals & finals of single matches, price giving & closing ceremony Participation The WVC is open to all interested players aged 40 years and over or who will reach their 40th birthday during the year the event takes place (born 1976 or earlier). This also includes participants who will reach the age of 40 during the course of the months after the event is scheduled (from July until December 2016). 2 Registration for WVC The registration is not included in our travel packages. The schedule of fees is as follows: Full Accreditation Kit: Early entry (to ): Player: 140, - Accompanying person: 45, - Late entry ( ): Player: 185, - Accompanying person: 45, - Handling fee for non-club members: 20, - Arrivals by plane to Alicante The airports of Alicante and Valencia (150 km to Alicante) can be reached easily by many German airports as well as from Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy. You can choose one of the flights of our preferred partners as Lufthansa, Iberia, Air Berlin and Germanwings or a so called low cost airline as Ryanair, Vueling, Easyjet or Norwegian Air Shuttle. To guarantee the best available flight tariff we work with actual daily flight rates. While booking your stay in Alicante we offer you the best available flight according to your journey and desired airport of departure. Today, flight rates are changing daily so that we recommend you to reserve as soon as possible so that you can get the cheapest tickets available. We are pleased to organize the transfer to your hotel for you: Bus transfer Alicante Airport hotel (and vice versa) 20,- per person. Bus transfer Valencia Airport hotel (and vice versa) 35,- per person. Also bookable is Rail & Fly independent of the airline you fly with. City hotels in Alicante 1 Tryp Gran Sol**** The highest building of the town is located on the seafront Explanada de España, next to the old town and to the beach of Postiguet. The rooms, renovated in 2014, are very specious and have air condition. The hotel offers you the restaurant Mirador, WLAN free of charge in the whole hotel (as per July 2015) and a sauna. 2 Abba Centrum**** The hotel is located in the business area and city center of Alicante. All the rooms are modern and spacious and have air condition. The old town and the beach of Postiguet can be reached in about 1 km. 4 Beach hotels 4 Polamar**+ Located in the homely city of Santa Pola (20 km in the South of Alicante) the hotel is located directly on the nice and sandy beach. The venue IFA is only 10 km from the city of Santa Pola. The elementary rooms are all equiped with air condition and balcony. The hotel offers you a nice restaurant with spanish dishes and WLAN free of charge in the whole hotel (as per July 2015).
