10 MANDAT PELAKSANAAN BDA IMPLEMENTATION MANDATE...the Communications and Multimedia Ministry with the support of the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) and MDeC will jointly implement four government initiated Big Data Analytics (BDA) pilot projects by 2015 to drive ICT services. 19 EXPLORING ASEAN CIO COOPERATION IN BIG DATA INITIATIVES..Big data technology and services are expected to grow worldwide at a compound annual growth rate of 40% about seven times that of the ICT market overall - study by IDC Global trend holds enormous potential in various fields - health, food security, climate and resource efficiency to energy, intelligent transport systems, smart cities, etc Coordinated action involving ASEAN countries should be explored to formulate Big Data Strategy for ASEAN 19

20 BDA INITIATIVE IN EUROPEAN UNION A new strategy on Big Data, supporting and accelerating the transition towards a data-driven economy in Europe. The data-driven economy - stimulate research and innovation on data leading to more business opportunities and an increased availability of knowledge and capital, in particular for SMEs, across Europe. Support "lighthouse" data initiatives capable of improving competitiveness, quality of public services and citizen's life Focus public Research & Inovation on technological, legal and other bottlenecks Use public procurement to bring the results of data technologies to the market Develop enabling technologies, underlying infrastructures and skills, particularly to the benefit of SMEs Extensively share, use and develop public data resources and research data infrastructures Accelerate the digitisation of public administration and services to increase their efficiency Relevant legal framework and the policies are datafriendly 20
