1 Loyola College (Autonomous) Chennai Denarius Organized by Department of Commerce (Shift II) On 22nd August 2015 The Loyola Commerce Forum organized the Department Fest Denarius 2015 on 22 nd August, 2015 at Bertram Hall. The Department Fest inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. J. Sadakkadulla, Regional Director of Reserve Bank of India, Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry with the presence of Dean of Commerce, HOD of Commerce, Coordinator (Shift-II), President and Vice-President of Commerce Forum, Department faculty members, students and invitees. 2 The function begins with the Department Choir and then the lighting of the kuthuvillaku by the Dignitaries. The welcome address was given by Prof. P. V. Saravanan, President of Commerce Forum. The chief guest Dr. J. Sadakkadulla was honored with a shawl by the Dean of Commerce and then a memento and a bouquet was given to the chief guest by Dr. A. Jesu Kulandairaj. After the lighting of the Kuthuvillaku, Coordinator Dr. Jesu Kulandairaj invited the chief guest to deliver his speech. The Chief Guest Dr. J. Sadakkadulla, Regional Bank of India, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, lighting the Kuthuvillaku with the Dignitaries Dr. J. Sadakkadulla, Regional Director of Reserve Bank of India, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry in his inaugural address landed the initiative of the Forum in organizing Inter Collegiate student competitions. It provides a platform for identifying and tapping the talents-literary, historic and managerial. Further the chief guest suggested that students may pursue a professional course on accounting and auditing, a lucrative career especially in the gulf. 2

4 We have conducted five on-stage events (Ad -zap, Channel surfing, Potpourri, Scoop-it-up and Corporate Enclave) and four off-stage events (Marketing, Finance, Entrepreneur and Human Resource Management) and two skill-based events (Photography and T-shirt painting). Totally 25 colleges with 44 departments participated in the fest. Dr. J. Sadakkadulla, Regional Director, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, Reserve Bank of India, inaugurates Denarius 2015 ON-STAGE EVENTS The events were conducted by the student organizers along with the faculty incharge and were judged by the professionals. AD-ZAP:- The 1 st event was Ad-zap, totally 27 teams participated and the winner of the event was Ethiraj college and the runner was D. G. Vaishnav college (shift-ii). The event was judged by Rizu, Gopal and Anand. 4

5 CHANNEL SURFING:- The second event was channel surfing in which 19 teams participated, winner and runner of the event was New College and Vivekananda College respectively. The judges of the event were Raju, Jayashree and Isuwar. SCOOP IT UP:- It was the third on stage event, 18 teams participated and the winner of the event was Ethiraj College and the runner was St. Thomas College. Raju and Sumi were the judges of the event. POT POURRI:- In the fourth event Potpourri, 23 teams participated and the winner of the event was Ethiraj College and the runner of the event was New College. The event was judged by Rohini, Ramesh, Monisha and Thanigai. Engrossed participants of Denarius

6 The fifth on stage event was Corporate Enclave, 13 teams participated and the winner was Christ University and the runner was Ethiraj College. On stage events started at am and ended at 4.30 pm. All the events were entertaining and the students exhibited various talents. This stage gave opportunities to all the students to come with their different ideas. OFF-STAGE EVENTS The events were conducted by the student organizers along with faculty in-charge and judged by the professionals. The first event was marketing, 21 teams participated in the event and the winner of the event was Christ University and the runner was Ethiraj College. The event was judged by Mr. Mariappan. The second event was finance, 12 teams participated in the event and the winner of the event was Christ University and the runner was Ethiraj College. The event was judged by Siddharth, Prasanna and Sripal Khariwal. CORPORATE ENCLAVE:- MARKETING:- FINANCE:- ENTREPRENEUR:- The third event was Entrepreneur, 10 teams participated in the event and the winner of the event was Christ University and the runner of the event was Ethiraj College. The last event was Human Resource, 12 teams participated in the event and the winner of the event was Ethiraj College and the runner of the event was SRM University. The event was judged by Mr. Charles Jail Singh. SKILL BASED EVENTS HUMAN RESOURCE:- PHOTOGRAPHY:- The first event was Photography, 31 students participated in the event and the winner of the event was SRM University and St. Thomas Arts & Science College. 6

7 T-SHIRT PAINTING:- The second event was T-shirt painting, 21 students participated in the event and the winners of the event was Ethiraj College and Hindustan College. VALEDICTORY The Valedictory function was presided by Mr. Srinivas Acharya, Managing Director of PNB Paribas. The chief guest was addressed by Prof. Ms. Smitha, Commerce Forum. Mr. Srinivas Acharya, Managing Director PNB Paribas, the Golf exhorted the young minds to hone their soft skills which would enhance their employability. He hailed the participants for their zeal and zest in exhibiting their hidden talents and competing with each other team in lifting the most coveted trophy. The chief guest Mr. Srinivas Acharya, Managing Director, PNB Paribas felicitates the Valedictory The chief guest presented the memento to all the Department Faculties. The certificates, cash prize and mementos were awarded to the winners and runners of the various events by the Chief Guest. 7

Carnival was indeed a feast to the eyes and ears. Finally, as every good thing comes to an end, the department fest DENARIUS successfully came to an end on a positive note where all the people present stood to wave off with a national anthem. 8
