The school, since its creation in 1927 by the Chambre syndicale de la Haute Couture, bears witness to the fact that Couturiers and Fashion Designers have constantly attached considerable importance to the provision of technical training for the highly-qualified personnel needed to design products with highly-complex structures, to the fostering of new talents and to the durability of their labels through fashion various evolutions. Some of the renowned designers that graduated from this program include : Adeline ANDRÉ, André COURRÈGES, Anne Valérie HASH, Dominique SIROP, Gilles ROSIER, Gustavo LINS, Issey MIYAKE, Jean COLONNA, Jean-Louis SCHERRER, Jérôme L HUILLIER, LEFRANC.FERRANT, Olivier LAPIDUS, Stéphane ROLLAND, Tom Van LINGEN, VALENTINO, Véronique NICHANIAN, Yves SAINT LAURENT, A 4 years private program in fashion design and technique. The program is prepared on four years with 30 at 32 hours per week, from September to the end of June. I. Program in fashion design and technique A diploma Level II (bachelor equivalent) marks the successful conclusion of this program. A - Admission and Course Description The course comprises three main pedagogical orientations : Knowledge of the garment based on the criteria of quality and fit Development of creative flair Knowledge of the professional environment The average length of each class varies according to the subject taught. The aim of the 1st year is to enable students to acquire all the basic principles of the artistic, technical and technological fields. These principles are applied and developed in the 2nd year and in parallel students are taught how to use the computer software specific to C.A.D. (Lectra Systems). The 3rd year is a synthesis of all knowledge acquired when the different techniques (manual and computerized) necessary for the different professions envisaged are put to use in the framework of professional projects and the work that these involve. The 4th year is a year of specialization and students are offered the choice between two options : * A design/image option * A product development/studies office option During the first three years of the course, the students training is multidisciplinary with a common-core syllabus.

2 1 - Fashion design Graphic knowledge, sketches on live model, color initiation, figurine fashion. Clothes and accessories creation, fabric printing (manual and computer PHOTOSHOP). Creativity, artistic culture, esthetic sensibility, visual communication. Stylism. Study project : target identification, shoppings, color and material research. Collection process. Collection file : Haute Couture, ready to wear, knitwear, accessories (manual and computer PHOTOSHOP). 2 - Modelism Study of human morphology : measurements, shapes. Draping, balancing, proportions, volumes. Muslin on mannequin from fashion design, body volumes and mouvements, study of balance and proportion. Pattern making : basic construction, transformation from sketches, graduation, placement of pattern pieces, calculation and measurement (manual and computer). 3 - Material and tool technology, sewing technics Specific study of fabrics : the weaves, treatment, knitting, Fabric vocabulary, " form / material balance ". Traditional and industrial sewing technics, step by step creation of model studied. Technical forms (manual and computer). Garment production technics (industrial). Calculating cost price. Technical and fabric files in relation to collection. 4 - Files : from design to prototype Elaboration of collections, inspiration plan, color range, target, market, concept, restrictions. Clothes creation, fabric printing, accessories, in the same style. Material choice. Draping, pattern making, graduation, placement, calculation and measurements. Calculating cost price. Executing prototypes and accessories, to be presented to professionals during the final fashion show (end of the fourth year). 5 - History of costumes/of fashion Getting to know history in order to put contemporary fashion into better perspective. Becoming familiar with the important movements of contemporary fashion design. 6 - Knowledge of the sector and its professions Talks given by a recruitment agency. Getting familiar with the professional fashion sector : The different cycles. Different activities and professions (design, creation, production, communication, marketing and purchasing). Different statuses. 7 - New technology Learning how to use PHOTOSHOP during the first year of the course. From the 2nd year onwards, introduction to and development of the use of LECTRA software programmes (KALEDO, MODARIS V5, DIAMINO).

3 8 - Fashion English Learning English fashion vocabulary, particularly linked to the fields of design, conception and production. 9 - Introduction to marketing and management The 4th year course is a common-core syllabus with the following orientations : General and artistic knowledge. Knowledge of the economic and industrial environment. Marketing and communication. In order to take either of the specialization options, students must pass their end-of-third-year exams and be assessed by a jury of professionals. Design/image specialisation : Fashion and design culture, image-based products, creative development, design, accessories, communication strategy, brand communication policy, visual merchandizing Product development/studies office specialization : Industrialization/production, sourcing, purchasing, planning and managing a collection, cost analysis, marketing, new technology such as LECTRA MODARIS B - Liaising with Companies Talks given by professionals from the fashion sector on varied subjects. Professional projects carried out by students in liaison with companies. Internships. Experience of the professional world via compulsory internships/placements : * 5 months between the 2nd and the 3rd year (from the beginning of May to the beginning of October) culminating in a written report on the internship. * 5 months from the beginning of November to the beginning of March of the 4th year culminating in a written report. * An internship of a minimum of four months after the fourth year, which may be extended until the end of June following the end of the course. The written record is the subject of a note is taken into account to obtain the title. The internship is one of the main applications of lessons learned. It embodies the know-how and is a real experience. During the internship, the student retains the benefit of his student status. The courses are a mandatory subject of an agreement / School / Company. As part of strengthening ties with the companies in our industry, the French Federation of Couture has created a Training Committee in 2002, known as the "Cercle Saint Roch", which is constituted by Human Resources Managers of the members companies of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. One of its main missions is to define the structural and educational resources that can strengthen the links between the training of students of the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale and businesses. It is also considering the adequacy of the training provided and skills in order to ensure the transmission of know-how of the profession. The open reflection on the conduct of this training course was formalized by the creation of a 4th year programs which have been built with many players in the professional world. It provides students with stylists and designers the necessary background to meet the needs of companies looking for expertise at the interface between design and production. The "Cercle Saint Roch" has also been working on signing a partnership agreement between the school of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs. The two institutions have considered that the development of their collaboration to provide education to students for careers in full mode combining creativity and know-how, technical and artistic training. A partnership has also been initiated with the Institut Français de la Mode to emphasize the multidisciplinary lessons and develop exchanges based on the strengths of each institution.

4 C - Status Students benefit from a student status : every student under the age of 28 must be affiliated to the Social Security regime and proof of contributions given at the beginning of the school year. Older students can be affiliated to a personal insurance regime with fixed contributions at a reduced rate. The general regime of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne School is one of a day school. Once registered at the school, students are automatically insured against accidents taking place at school and they are also covered during their internships in France and abroad. D - Grades/Exams To progress from the second year to the third year of the program, every student must meet the following requirements : - Achieve a grade average equal to, or greater than 10 must be obtained on the work done throughout the school year. - At the end of January and the end of April, a report card detailing all the grades, along with the appreciations and comments from teachers, is sent to each student with a addendum regarding the number of absences. Any unjustified absence will result in a proportional reduction of the grade for the course in which the absences occurred. - Achieve a grade average equal to, or greater than 10 on the end-of-year final exam that is administered in June of each school year. To move up to the fourth year of the program, a student must meet the following requirements : - Achieve a grade average equal to, or greater than 10 on the work done throughout the school year according to the conditions specified below. Any unjustified absences will result in a proportional reduction of the grade for the course in which the absences occurred. - Achieve a grade average equal to, or greater than 10 on the end-of-year final exam that s given in June of each school year. - Achieve a grade of 12 or above on the personal project that the student must present before a jury of fashion professionals during the month of June. - Those students who get a grade between from the jury will get a diploma acknowledging the completion of the third year of study. These students will have another opportunity to present their work before the jury the following year in order to try and progress to the fourth year of study as long as they have pursued a professional year long internship that was approved by our establishment. To earn a Master s Degree at the end of the Fourth Year of study, a student must meet the following requirements : - Achieve a grade average equal to, or greater than 10 on the work done throughout the school year according to the conditions specified below. Any unjustified absences will result in a proportional reduction of the grade for the course in which the absences occurred.

5 - Achieve a grade equal to, or greater than 10 on the final project presented to a professional jury. - Achieve a grade equal to, or greater than 10 on the thesis which summarizes the internship completed at the end of studies. Non-French students must have a sufficient level of French comprehension and expression in order to progress from one year to the next. E - Admission Conditions The minimum age required for admission is 18 years old. Students must have the baccalaureate or an equivalent qualification. They must have notions of drawing and a creative flair. Selection is made on the basis of a student s school record, portfolio of personal work, accompanying letter and an individual interview. Contact : François Broca / ecole@modeaparis.com II. Process specializing in draping and pattern making A one year process, specialising in draping pattern-making. A Objective This process specialising in draping/pattern making program focuses on the notions of quality, comfort and well fitting as they relate to garments. It prepares students for jobs as the fashion interface between design and production. The teaching focuses on further developing skills in these fundamental areas by practicing sophisticated draping and pattern-making as well as mastering traditional techniques in fashion design. The aim is to optimise the knowledge of all the steps in the creation-manufacturing-production process, through professional knowledge and use of skills specific to design. B The Course The course lasts a total of 10 months, or 30 weeks, from the beginning of October to the end of May, i.e. 840 hours, at a rate of 28 hours per week. The course work covers a variety of areas through cross-disciplinary projects : Learning sophisticated draping and pattern making by understanding complex structures, bias cuts, drape, etc. Learning what distinguishes the work of certain key couturiers or designers by examining not only the aesthetics of their work but also the structure of their designs and products, updating those elements to design personalised files, making the patterns, developing the toiles and making the prototypes in the final fabrics. Designing a personal collection of products based on a given theme : determine and carry out all the stages of product development from the design to the completed prototype. The program is taught in French.

6 C - Admission This program is open exclusively to students who have already completed a post-graduate degree in fashion and apparel and who wish to gain a greater knowledge of the range of activities relating to garment design and development. Selection will be based on an individual interview and on presentation of the applicant s portfolio. Applicants will be required to produce a certified copy of the certificate or other documents proving that the relevant studies have been completed. D Validation of the Course Those who successfully complete the end-of-course examination will be awarded this Process Specializing specific Certificate of the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. In addition, students benefit from having two types of instructors : teachers and working professionals. Continuing education for professionals Continuing Training Center for Industry Professionals In the goal of acquiring and perfecting skills, shorter programs are organized for working professionals. These are structured around the ideas of quality and the "rightness" of clothing. Multi-companies training course Our establishment purposes training courses :

7 of modelling of draping, a first unit of studies of structured clothes, a second one around the research for important volumes, bias, draped of pattern making/pattern grading. Specific-company training course The subjects covered in these programs are the result of a study on the products concerned that precisely defined the most important needs.
