8 AGV575 Pre-series trains tests PS01 Test Start Marc 10 th, 2011 Test end December 5 th, 2011 L02 Test Start April 10 th, 2011 Test End December 9 th, 2011 Tests performed: Traction/Braking: performance evaluation, speed step up, braking test, and braking distance measuring to comply with safety requirements, homologation of the system as a type system. Signalling System: set up and verification of the correct interface between on board and ground devices Pantograph: dynamic behavior at high speed, current collection quality, both off 3kV and 25kV. Tunnel aerodynamics interactions Test performed: Running dynamics up to 330 km/h on the 25kV HS line Milano Bologna (commercial speed + 10% as specified by international regulation) Running dynamics up to 275 km/h on the 3kV DD line Roma Firenze (commercial speed + 10% as specified by international regulation) External aerodynamics on fixed installation along the line (such as platform, etc.) Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) Outside Noise level measurement 8
9 AGV575 Pre-series trains tests L03 Tests performed: Test Start November 17 th, 2011 Test end December 18 th, 2011 Signalling system homologation and put into service: km under supervision running on all kind of line in order to demonstrate to safety authority the robustness and reliability of the type system under homologation Reliability growth endurance test L03 L05 Test performed: Test Start November 10 th, 2011 Test End December 11 th, 2011 Test were performed on the still to be opened (at that time) French Rhin-Rhone 25kV High Speed Line, together with French TGV and German ICE trainstes. Over speed test at 330km/h to have a complete benchmark on dynamic behavior of that train running on different infrastructures Completing of the external aerodynamics on fixed installation along the line that were left from test in Italy. 13 Homologation Process Lessons learned Logistic support for maintenance and for operations Clear definition of the actors involved in the process with related responsibility perimeter; Harmonisation of national / European standard not fully achieved; Strong technical support by Rolling Stock Manufacturer (Alstom); Training of personnel during homologation period is a key for gaining experience on the rolling stock; Strong presence of Railway Undertaking during homologation test is fundamental for anticipating possible issues during operations. 13
