Venue of the course 1.1 The Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Course on Aviation Safety will take place at the Renaissance Polat İstanbul Hotel in Istanbul, 5 Km from Istanbul Ataturk Airport, from 05 to 06 May 2016 at the kind invitation of Turkey. 1.2 The course focal points are: At the regional office: Ms. Leyla SULEYMANOVA Telephone: Fax: icaoeurnat@paris.icao.int Website In Turkey: Mr. Oğuz ALDEMİR Telephone: Fax: oaldemir@shgm.gov.tr 2. Working Languages 2.1 The course will be conducted in English with Russian interpretation. 3. Opening Session 3.1 The opening session of the DGCA course will be held at 09:00 am on Thursday 05 May in the conference room of the Renaissance Polat İstanbul Hotel. 4. Working Hours 4.1 The expected daily working hours of the course will be: 09:00 to 16: There will be a one-hour lunch break each day of the course from 12:00 to 13:00 and 15mn coffee/tea breaks at 10:30 and 15:00 local time. 5. Registration 5.1 In addition to submission of completed forms by , the registration of participants will take place at the site of the course on 05 May from 8:00 to 9:00 local time. 6. Health 6.1 The participants should ensure that they have applied for a valid health insurance for the coverage of any medical care during their stay in Istanbul.
2 6.2 Hospitals If necessary, the following medical facilities are recommended: Acıbadem International Hospital 400 m from course venue Özel Atakoy Hospital from course venue Bagcılar Education and Research Hospital - 12 km from course venue 7. Procedures for obtaining an entry Visa for Turkey 7.1 Information can be obtained from this link ( for Turkey visa. 7.2 Most nationals are exempted to have visa for Turkey for short stay (less than 30 days). Participants are requested to check if visa is required in each individual case at the relevant Turkish consulate. In case any visa support assistance is required please contact: Mr. Oğuz ALDEMİR Telephone: Fax: oaldemir@shgm.gov.tr 8. Banking and Currency 8.1 The local currency unit is Turkish Lira (TL). Approximately 1 Euro = 3.20 TL. 8.2 Currency can be exchanged at the main banks agencies and exchange agencies in the city. MasterCard, American Express and VISA cards are generally accepted in hotels, restaurants and shopping centres. 8.3 Banks are available at the airport and near the course venue. 9. Weather 9.1 During May, the mean daily minimum temperature is 10 C and the daily mean maximum temperature is 20 C. 10. Electricity Volts/50 Hertz using standard European type plug. 11. Transportation 11.1 The Turkish DGCA recommends that participants stay at the Renaissance Polat İstanbul Hotel, which is the course venue and more suitable in terms of traffic and transportation. 12. Hotel Information 12.1 Participants are requested to make their own hotel reservations The Turkish DGCA has negotiated a special group rate of 140 per night (includes buffet breakfast and 8% VAT). A block of rooms has been secured at this rate until 15 April 2016, after which the hotel will accept reservations base on availability of rooms and at the regular cost.
