This course will give you the practical skills necessary to develop a theory of change and build a solid foundation for your projects and programmes. This course will give you a clear overview of outcome mapping, how you can use it to understand changes in behaviour, how you can adapt it and where it can most help your work. Available as an in-house course on request only One-day course If you have to design programmes and prepare budgets for institutional donors but have limited experience of using value-for-money techniques, this course will build your skills and confidence. You ll learn why value for money is important, get an introduction to a variety of value-for-money techniques and prepare to develop an organisational value-for-money action plan. 11 Strategic foresight and futures Transparency: introduction to IATI publishing One-day course This course offers a hands-on introduction for decision-makers and those who want to learn about how futures techniques can help with strategic planning in an international development NGO. You ll learn some of the key tools, including horizon scanning and scenario planning, get creative with artefacts from the future and work on personal action plans. The course includes a follow-up mentoring session to reflect on progress. Decision-makers, those with some experience of strategic planning and anyone who wants to use futures techniques to advocate for decision-making that takes account of the long term. Course participant, December 2014 One-day course This course will give you everything you need to know to get your data published to the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) registry. It is funded by the UK Department for International Development and free for UK-based NGOs. You ll learn the theory and practice of transparency and how to apply it using the free IATI software, AidStream. People responsible for IATI data entry should attend the whole day. 13 Putting together an EC project proposal Managing EC contracts and reporting on EC grants This course is indispensable for those working in organisations that intend to apply for European Commission (EC) funding. You ll learn how to match your proposal to the EC s specific requirements, how the appraisal process works and how to maximise your chance of success. And you ll be given guidance on how to write a concept note that fits with EC objectives and what to include in a full proposal.
