1 Internet Explorer Settings for Optum CareTracker CareTracker (aka Optum PM and Physician EMR) is a web-based application, which currently only runs on the 32 -bit version of Internet Explorer (to tell, click on Help, About Internet Explorer; if it s 64-bit it will say so here). In order to use CareTracker, each user must update their internet browser settings and plugins. according to the sections below. Failure to do so may result in various functions within CareTracker not working properly or screens not displaying correctly. Please contact your IT support person for help if necessary. *Note: do not start CareTracker in Internet Explorer from a desktop shortcut, only from a bookmark or the address bar. For several of these items, you will need the Tools menu either on the Internet Explorer menu bar at the upper left (press the Alt key on your keyboard if it s not there), or on the command bar at the upper right. Clearing the Cache The cache is a space in your computer's hard drive and Random Access Memory (RAM) where your browser saves copies of recently-visited web pages. Typically these items are stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder. It is important to clear your cache on a regular basis (at least weekly), at every new CareTracker release, if you switch between the current and previous versions, and if you are experiencing unusual behavior in CareTracker. Important Clear your cache before logging in to CareTracker. If you are logged in, log out before clearing your cache. To clear the cache in Internet Explorer: 1. Open an Internet Explorer browser window. *If you do not see the IE menu bar at the top of your window (with 2. Press the Alt key to get the IE menu bar, then Tools, and select Internet Options, which will display the Internet Options dialog box (below). *Note: checking the Delete browsing history on exit only deletes your history, it DOES NOT clear your cache!

2 3. On the General tab, in the Browsing history section, click Delete. Windows displays the Delete Browsing History dialog box (below). 4. Deselect the Preserve Favorites website data checkbox. *This is very important! 5. Select at least the Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and History checkboxes. 6. Click Delete. 7. Click OK. 3 Disabling the Pop-Up Blocker A pop-up window is a small web browser window that appears on top of the website you are viewing. This avoids having to navigate away from the current window you are viewing. CareTracker uses the pop-up mechanism to enable an efficient workflow. Many computers have firewall protectors that alleviate annoying pop-up ads from displaying as you work on a website. However, you must enable pop -ups in order to use the functionality within CareTracker. To turn off pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer: 1. Open Internet Explorer browser window. 2. Select Tools >Pop-up Blocker >Turn Off Pop-up Blocker from the browser menu. (if you see a choice to Turn On Pop-up Blocker, then your Pop-up Blocker is already turned off) 3. Note: if this will adversely affect other websites you use, make sure you turn it off for your Trusted Sites (see the Configure Internet Security Settings section below); if you do so, it s not necessary to turn it off here. To disable pop-up blocker in Safari for ipad: 1. Tap Settings from your ipad home screen. 2. Tap Safari from the Settings panes on the left. The Safari Pane displays the browser options. 3. Add CareTracker addresses as Trusted Sites To add CareTracker as a trusted site: It is highly recommended to add the CareTracker and support websites to the trusted site list. On the menu bar, click Tools and then select Internet Options from the menu. Internet Explorer displays the Internet Options dialog box. 3. Click the Security tab and then select Trusted Sites. 4. When in compatibility view mode, Internet Explorer fixes some display issues (misplaced or missing menus, images, buttons, etc.) for websites that were designed for previous versions of Internet Explorer. To turn on temporarily (only in IE10 or earlier) : When in CareTracker, click on the little ripped page icon to the right of the address bar at top, which should then turn to a darker blue to indicate that this site is in compatibility mode. *Note: this will not be set if you open a new IE window. To turn on for this website (until you clear your cache): Go to: Tools>Compatibility View Settings. If you were in CareTracker, just click on the Add button. If you were in a different website, type in caretracker.com and click Add. You might need to reenter this after you next clear your cache, depending on which IE version you re using.

Select Tools>Internet Options from the browser menu. The Internet Options dialog box displays. 3. In the Tab section, click Settings. The Tabbed Browser Settings dialog box displays. 4. 7 Disable 3 rd Party Toolbars It is strongly suggested that you uninstall all add-on Internet Explorer toolbars (e.g., Google, Yahoo, and more malicious ones that get installed without your knowledge ), for both security and performance reasons and to allow for more vertical space for the CareTracker screens. It is often possible to disable them by clicking on an x to the left of the toolbar, but you should permanently remove them by going to the Control P anel, choosing Uninstall a Program in the Programs category, finding the toolbar in the list, selecting it, and clicking on Uninstall on the menu bar. Install Attachment Tools to enable scanning and uploading multiple files and folders If you want to scan documents directly into CareTracker, or upload multiple files or a folder of files at one time, you will need to install the CareTracker Attachment Tools. There are two ways to install the Attachment Tools: 1. The first time you try to scan directly into CareTracker via the Scan button in the Document Management Upload window if the tool is not already installed, it will prompt you to do so; just follow the directions. Or, you could first install it via step 2 below before you start scanning. *Note: in order to scan directly into CareTracker, your scanner must have a TWAIN driver. 2. You will get the popup below. Click on Run and follow the prompts to install the tool. Setting CareTracker as Your Home Page Your home page is displayed when Internet Explorer first opens.
